Curious: is it legal...??

...to marry on Disney property without having a "Disney" wedding? I know that we can't just march in there with an officiate and get married without having to answer to Disney (of course they want to charge for use of their property)...but I would be curious if an officiate performed a ceremony on, say, Splash Mountain...? Would it be legal? Could Disney sue us if they found out?

I'm speculating that there's going to be a whole legal issue on this, but I was hoping somebody had some solid answers. Thanks!

:laugh LOL, Kimberly!:laugh Splash Mountain? How about PoC?
It's a longer ride, and the wedding party would fit better!

What happened to Hawaii?

Not too sure about the legal thing, I'm curious too, hopefully someone will know more about this.

Yeah, I can see the logistics in PoC...not a bad idea, Amy! :laugh Splash Mountain just happens to be the first ride we went on together, so it holds some extra-special meaning.

As for the wedding party...there ain't gonna be one! I don't even know if my parents are going to be there...whatever we end up doing.

(I posted what happened to Hawaii in the "wedding developments" thread.)

Hope somebody can shed some light on this legal mystery for me!

I love that idea... The bad news is that you cant be married inside of any of the theme parks.... You arent even allowed to walk around in your wedding attire while the parks are open. They say because it's not fair to the other people vacationing there.
You can be in the parks if you are going for dinner after the wedding. (I think)
And then you can have your pictures done inside the theme parks but it has to be well before the parks open.
You are allowed in all the resorts and monorail etc which is great.

We were married on sunset pointe at the POLY and then had the reception at the California Grille and watched the fireworks etc.

I wonder if they'd know, considering we wouldn't even be in "wedding attire..." ?? We were just going to wear our favorite Disney clothes! ::evil laugh::

Anyway, what's against the rules is against the rules. Guess we'll have to figure something else out! Bummer.

:laugh :laugh :laugh Too cute!!!!!

I wish that they would allow it but I can kind of understand why.... But I know if I was there on vacation and was walking around the park(s) it wouldnt bother me at all that there was a bride and groom in their wedding attire walking around and wanting to take pictures. I think it would be great....
I guess Disney knows best.......

Amy I think it has something to do with safety if a bride was in a wedding gown it could get caught in a ride and the bride could get hurt ( I am just guessing but that seems logical to me )

I remember someone posting that they got married in front of the CC right after opening. I don't think they had permission or wore anything wedding like. Just a simple exchange v&r and pictures...wish I could remember for you. Maybe post a message with a more obvious title like "Did you get married at Disney?".

Sorry I can't do more for you.

Hope I helped,

If a couple has a license and a minister and they don't have wedding attire on,and just happen to stop in front of an attraction and get married,I don't see Disney even knowing about it until it is all over.

Kinda my thoughts...honestly, I just don't see how they would know! :)

Of course, I've started thinking about this even more AFTER I already bought a nice dress! LOL...but it's okay. I suppose I could always just wear the dress at the reception or something...

I'll have to talk to my mom on this issue. But of course, now there's a group of 6 of us....add a minister and we sure as heck ain't gonna fit in one Disneyland Splash Mountain log! :hmmm

A notary could marry you in 2 seconds, you don't need all the fluffy vows. All you need to do is state the intent, and sign on the dotted line. I suppose you could do it waiting in any line, or anywhere else. If everyone was in "street clothes" the only ones who would be aware of a wedding would be those involved.
