Info on Haunted Mansion Movie

SCIFI.COM had this blurb today about the new HAUNTED MANSION MOVIE. Seems the ride will be affected by the movie:

Director Rob Minkoff told SCI FI Wire that his upcoming movie The Haunted Mansion may affect the Disneyland ride on which it's based. "They have a strategy at Disneyland that one of the things they have to do is bring people back to the park," Minkoff said in an interview. "[Changing staple rides is] the way they do it. ... When they have an opportunity to do something new, to give it a little bit of a reawakening, they're very excited."

The film tells the story of a family, led by patriarch Eddie Murphy, which moves into the titular mansion and has to undo a curse. Minkoff said the movie is only loosely based on the ride. "There are some of the images from the ride that we are going to incorporate into the storytelling, but really the goal is you'll watch this movie as its own thing. It's not about a ride. What will happen is you'll see the movie, and you'll go, 'Oh, I understand slightly differently what that meant [in the ride].' It will actually have more of an inflection on the ride than the ride will have an inflection on the movie."

As I said about the Pirates movie- why mess with success? At LEAST this director has an affinity and familiarity with the ride- but I still think it's a poor idea.

Next on Disney's motion picture list:

Test Track- Ride with Robin Williams into a brick wall of sorts with this romp roaring adventure through the assembely line at the local car plant. Talk about a block buster.

Space Mountain- Tom Hanks stars in this classic adventure film about an asteroid that is headed for Earth. Only one problem: the asteroid looks like a chocolate chip cookie so nobody takes it seriously.

Tower of Terror- Steve Gutenburg stars in this terrable adaptation of a ride turned into... oh wait... nevermind

LOL, that is hilarious! Man, that was a poor excuse for a movie. Those other ideas are great, anyone got any other ones?

Jungle Cruise - Kurt Russell plays his Captain Ron role, guiding the boat through a river of bad animal special effects to wrestle with a rubber Anaconda.

In Kilimanjaro Safari, Marlon Brando stars and tries to go incognito as a hippo in order to stop the poachers. Does he get poached?-you'll have to watch to find out!:) :D

We've also watched ToT several times :laugh :laugh I can't say I'll be watching Country Bears though.

I wish they would make a movie about HM that actually WAS the story of Haunted Mansion, The Master Gracy, Madame Leota story. It could be SO good. I just don't think Eddie Murphy is the right person for that role. I like him but I don't think I would care for him in that role. I would like HM to actually be a little scary and not another nutty professor or Dr. Doolittle
