Country Bears

Hi Tink,

I read a review on this recently and they said it was not very good. The bears apparently look ridiculous and you don't really know if they are meant to be real bears or just people dressed up. But who knows I guess some people might like it.

Saw the movie last week with my 6-year old son. I give it a "B-" as the excellent music carries this movie which runs a typical Disney "good vs. evil" theme with a typical you-know-it ending. The humor comes in the bears zipping one-liners either true to their character or at the character flaw of another character. The two Keystone-like cops add some physical humor even though their verbal comedy ("Let's get mobile!") goes flat. The movie also features cameos of some of the musicians/singers who added to the soundtrack: Brian Setzer, Bonnie Raitt, EJ (yes, THAT EJ!!) and others. Although I don't plan to buy the DVD (unless my son really, really wants it), I will be picking up the CD. As far as the "adopted kid" theme that's played in the promo, I was hoping at the end of the movie that the news would leak out that the human kid was in fact the one that was adopted! I'd say that kids aged 10 and below would like watching "The Country Bears" movie. Please enjoy!

I think we'll wait for it to come out on video as I've heard too many mixed reviews to take my whole clan to the movie theater!

Though I heard a lot of bad reviews for Country Bears, I was going to go see it anyway. How bad can a Disney movie really be? Unfortunately, they have already pulled it out of all the theaters in my area.

I thought it was cute .. it wasnt an award winning move ..but it was cute and the message (there is always a message ) was that family are the ones that love you no matter what or who you are. yes I am not hard to please ya'll. I dont expect much from move but to escape from reality for a while.

The family saw it the other day and I was not as disappointed as I thought I would be after seeing the trailers. It's a quirky movie, but it keeps moving through its paces, while intruducing many of the actual Disney Country Bear characters. The similarities between the movie and the attraction predominantly only lie name deep. I guess it's because there isn't any real background story to the bears since they were originally designed for a Disney ski resort that never happened, but moved to WDW. I would give it a B- at best. I hope Disney is smart enough to NOT think sequel!

Disney's obviously in cross-over mode right now, but their choices have been unusual.

Mission to Mars = a ride in Yesterdayland
Country Bears = hmm, okay? Are there any better licences to port over? Let's see:

- Tomorrowland Transit Authority: The Movie = :madmad
- The Legend of Big Thunder Mountain = :dazed - there is the ballad of the BTMR (check for it on MP3)
- Alien Encounter of the Third Kind = :o - Whoops, I think Alien or Close Encounters already has this distinction
- The Adventures of Little Red? = - See him get vengance on the poachers - not quite a Disney flick, is it
- Test Track: The Fast and the Furious II - - See Vin Diesel REALLY test cars in a XXX way.

Can anyone else tell it's Friday afternoon? :D
