Am I the only one with this problem?

My Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland VHS doesn't work in my VCR. In fact, in most of them. By that, I mean the pictures will show, but there is no audio. It works in one VCR... at my DGPs.

Also, one DVD - not Disney - plays only on my friend's DVD player or my PS2. Wierd...

This happened to my Eporer's New Groove except it doesnt' work anywhere. Also on the "damaged" list is my copy of Mary Poppins and Muppets Treasure Island....much to my dismay...tow of these are treasured favorites for me and my DD.

I know that DVD's have country codes so you can't play DVD from one area of the world on a DVD play from another...I don't think that is the case with VHS...

Really I have no idea at all I just like the to hear the sound of my fingers typing sometimes.

Re: Am I the only one with this problem?

VHS tapes can wear out, especially if you watch them a lot or if they are older tapes. I hate to say it. Also, VHS players need to have the heads cleaned occassionally to play properly. This may be the case with yours. You may want to get a head cleaner and then try the tapes again to see if it works.

Also in the situation with the DVD it may have a region code that is not compatible with your DVD player. USA players are in region one, if your DVD is region 2 and your friend has a newer DVD player that accepts all DVD codes that is why it will play there and I believe that PSes read any region because they are sold abroad and that is one of their main selling points. That could be why your DVD is not playing in one player, but is playing in the others.

I hope this info helps and doesn't muddy the situation any further for you. We have a ton of VHSes at our house and I have made sure that I have a four head vcr and that we clean the heads regularly. It is especially important to do this if you rent tapes a lot, because you are getting dirt and matter from other people's VCRs in your machine and it messes up your tapes and heads then they don't play right. Just a word to the wise I thought I would pass along.
