Re: Disney/Pixar "Cars"

I saw the trailer when I saw The Incredibles. I really am not into NASCAR. Honestly, the most boring sport in the world to watch, right there next to bowling. John Lassiter, who will be directing this movie (his first since Toy Story 2), has come right out and said it is aimed at the fans of NASCAR. The trailer was, ummm, well, didn't give away any of the story, and didn't peak my interest at all. The first thing that I thought when I saw the trailer was "Well, their last Disney movie, they must have had some idea that didn't take much time or money, and are just doing it to fullfil the Disney contract. No use wasting your best ideas when someone else is getting half the money."

However, Turnwrench and his son were at the movie with me, and they are huge racing fans. They now have a countdown going at their home for opening day.

It will be very interesting to see if the movie has a broad appeal to non-racing fans.

I don't know how much appeal it has to me either...but I scratched my head at Nemo after the first trailer too.

HA! That is exactly what I was thinking. I really think it was a HUGE error on M.E.'s part for loosing their partnership with Pixar.

Re: Disney/Pixar "Cars"

i just got done watching the trailer for "Cars" and i think it is really cute. the music in the beginning of the trailer though, isn't that the music from "A Bug's Life?" it sounds very familiar and I know it was in a Disney/Pixar movie. i just can't remember if it was in "A Bug's Life" or "Toy Story."

Re: Disney/Pixar "Cars"

Yeah, I have to say that my first impulse upon seeing every single Pixar trailer before much is known about it has been, "Boy, that looks lame!" But I'm always proven wrong. I hate NASCAR, and think the only creatures on earth that like it are cats (what else watches things go round and round in circles???), but I suspect I will like it when it opens.

I'm not thrilled about it. Unless the reviews (from non-nascar folk like myself) are fantastic, I don't plan on seeing it.

Re: Disney/Pixar "Cars"

Well, it at least looks like its worthy of a rental to me, but not something I'll go see in the theaters.

Oh I'm well aware of that, but I still wont go see it in the theaters. I really dont like go to the theaters. I'm not judging a book by its cover: as good as The Incredibles is supposed to be, I'm still going to wait for it to be a rental.

I think it was A Bug's Life - that was what I thought when I was sitting in the movie theater. Makes sense, too. The scene is of a bumble bee, A Bug's Life music.... it lulls you, then - WHAM!

NOT a NASCAR fan, but sometimes enjoy catching the end of the race... but I thought this looked very good... The old truck made me laugh... funny what appeals to some does not appeal to others at all...

Re: Disney/Pixar "Cars"

The trailer for Cars shows how much Pixar respects the Disney classics. in the fact that the characters greatly resemble Susie, the little blue coupe. Another nod to the masters.
