Re: "Cars" 2006 release

Disney & Pixar's "reason" is so full of holes. A Christmas release would dominate the box office IF it was good.

I wasn't too thrilled with the trailer myself.

It will fail miserably, and Eisner will blame everyone, but Disney's declining imagineering.

Re: "Cars" 2006 release

Aww, it looks cute. Doesn't make sense to push it back to 06 though Most kids see movies on the weekends... summer doesn't really factor much with summer school and parents working...?
It kinda reminds me of a show from a few years back. Around the mid-90s when Thomas the Tank Engine began it's popularity rise here in the US, there was a show about a talking Tugboat. Can't remember the name. The faces on the cars look similar though. *shrug*

Do YOU think TS3 will live up to Pixar standards???

Let's look at some of Disney's more recent films:

Brother Bear
Atlantis
Emporer's New Groove
Hercules
And a slew of direct to video films

None of these compare to Lion King, B&B, Little Mermaid, and et. all.

I just don't believe that WDW will return to great animation until things are shaken up from the top down.

Re: "Cars" 2006 release

i'm the type of person that tends to like just about everything when it comes to movies. it's very rare that i'll come across a movie that i just can't stand or was disappointed, etc. the only disney animated movie that i really don't like is "the black caldron." i think it's too dark and scary for kids, the animation was poor in my opinion, and the story seemed kind of silly. i love the movies that you mentioned. i thought "brother bear" has a great message about brothers and family. i love disney movies that have that kind of message or just puts a message or moral into the story, you know. i hope that "Cars" does as well as the previous Disney/Pixar movies and i hope that TS3 does just as well.

Re: "Cars" 2006 release

Actually, Jeff, I think the Emperor's New Groove is one of the best, most underrated Disney films ever. My best friend (who despises anything Disney...I know, he's a freak) laughs out loud at New Groove, he loves it so much. Hercules is pretty good too.

But I take your point w/Brother Bear and Atlantis.
