Disney Villians
DW got The Black Cauldren from the library. Not exactly Disney's best film, but....
The Horn King is one of the scariest Disney villians I've seen. I'm surprised he doesn't get any acknowledgement among the villians. And that got me thinking, that MOST Disney villians have a comedic element to them. Perhaps it's a silly song (Gaston) or too much melodrama (Ursala--"I'm wasting away.") or the way they are defeated (Cruella's barn encounter) or their sidekick is too over-the-top (Jafar). I can only think of 3 villians that are "scary" through-and-through: Maleficent, Evil Queen, and the Horn King. Cindy's stepmother might be included, except she's simply cruel, not supernaturally evil. Can anyone think of any other villians not shown in some comedic light?

Re: Disney Villians
No, can't say that I can. I think because they are shown in a comedic light, I like them more than the heros..lol Especially Hades...he has to be the funniest or darn close to it.

Re: Disney Villians
I haven't seen Fantasia since I was little, so I don't really remember it, but what about that big black monster with wings? He always freaks me out in the Spectromagic parade. I think his name's Chernabog... I don't think he's supposed to be comedic. He seems pretty darn evil to me.

Shan Yu, from Mulan, doesn't seem all THAT comedic to me. I haven't watched Mulan in awhile though.

We also watched Cinderella, and I take it back. She is more than a little frightening.

Re: Disney Villians
OMG The Horn King is terrifying.
I watched The Black Cauldron for the first time about 2 years ago (that would make me 18) and I almost turned it off because I didn't like him at all. Waaaaaay too scary for a Disney movie. ![]()

Re: Disney Villians
How about Cruella De Vil? Anyone who would want to wear fur is evil enough for me?
I would also have to say Hopper too. Oh and the Queen of Hearts "Off with her head!!". A while back they also had a special listing all of hollywoods worst/best villains and Man from bambi was one of them. My 4 yr old DD loves the villains so much I printed them onto iron on paper and made her villain sheets and villain underwear. (all they have for girl disney underwear is usually the princesses) They never have enough with the villains on them. Although I did get her a villain beach towel outside the fantasmic show 2 years ago. I know she isn't the scariest but I just love Yzma, she is hysterical

Re: Disney Villians
Yzma is one of my favorites :D That's my nickname...supposedly because I'm 'scary beyond all reason' ;)
I wouldn't throw Jafar out just because of Iago.....he scared my brother into tears in the movie theater! I remember being fairly scared myself, but wanted to look like a big girl...so I just closed my eyes during the parts that had Jafar....now Return of Jafar....THAT'S spooky (not the best movie overall...but SPOOKY) With Iago mostly on the good side...it's just scary Jafar! I just LOVED the song Second Best because it was so evil! And what about Scar? I thought he was pretty evil.

Re: Disney Villians
Oh yeah, Scar is very EVIL!
I would have to say the most comedic of the "villains" of Disney films would be Brer Fox and Brer Bear. They are very dimwitted and downright funny, just not sure we could categorize them as villains. I would have to give my vote to Jafar as an evil villain-at LEAST when he is the snake and then the genie-that is when he gets DOUBLE scary!

Scar looses points in the scene where he makes Zazu sing. Never saw Return of Jafar, but again, he is comical in the scene where Jasmine kisses him.

Re: Disney Villians
Now that I think back on it, Scar is actually pretty humorous...He seems very overdramatic at times.
How about the guy from Rescuer's Down Under (McLeach?) I don't remember him being too funny. It has been awhile though.

Re: Disney Villians
I find Cruella to be one of the funniest villains. "Oh Anita, DAHLING" I think she is also comical when she is supposed to be "scary" when she is driving her car after the puppies and has bloodshot eyes and driving like a madwoman. This is in my opinion though. But, she DOES want to skin puppies, which is kind of sinister...
