Monsters Inc. Fact

I have a Disney desktop calendar and this week there was a really neat fact about Monsters Inc.

Apparently one of the hardest things to design for this movie was how to animate Sully's hair moving (like in the door scene). His hair is 3000 animated strands!!!

Wow, that's amazing to me.

I used to have a friend who was really into computer animation, and he tried to describe the process of animating water to me. I was absolutely boggled...and shortly after that, Finding Nemo came out and I was in awe thinking about how much work they had to go through!

If you watch disk 2 on the Monsters DVD, they show the animation process for Sully's hair. It was interesting the computer glitches they had to overcome to make it work right.

BTW, the Finding Nemo DVD says the anemonea (sp?) Marlin lives in is basically Sully's hair fattened and color changed!

I knew I had heard this some place before, thanks for reminding me where. I love the second disk with all the inside scoop--I love that kind of information. I watched disk 2 of the Incredibles yesterday--great inside stuff.

yea, I heard that to Caver. How Marlins Home under the sea is really Sully's Hair slightly altered! Cool stuff!

I heard that on Finding Nemo they could make the ocean scenes look so realistic that when you put a real picture of the ocean, then the animated one side by side, the animated one looked nearly EXACTLY the same and real. You couldn't tell them apart at all. So they had to "Dull" down the graphics for the movie to keep the Cartoony feel.
