We were talking about different disney movies tonight and certain characters in them. Anyway we came to the movie ANASTASIA and I cant remember the name of a character in the movie. He was the white albino bat? Its making me nuts...
Anyone know?
And also your thoughts on the movie?
I love it!

This was not a DISNEY movie. But it was a well done outside Disney movies from a studio. It didn't hurt that Don Bluth (Dragon's Lair, Land before Time, Secret of Nimh, An American Tail, etc...) did work for Disney in his early years.

The name of the bat was Bartok. Voiced by Hank Azaria (voices of Moe Szyslak/Chief Wiggum/Apu/Comic Book Guy/Cletus/Prof. Frink/Others on the Simpsons, among other things).

Bartok was popular enough to have a stand alone movie, Bartok the Magnificent.

Re: Anastasia

1997 is when it came out. Is that Ancient?

It was released by 20th Century Fox. I was thinking WB, but I found this box art that says otherwise.

I actually thought it came out earlier than that, like 94 or so... oh well.

I love the whole dance sequence where she starts to remember things. It gives me chills, which is very rare for an animated film. The animation is very lifelike.

Anya:

Dancing bears
Painted wings
Things I almost remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December
Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory

Royal Ghost Voices:

Aahh...

Anya:

Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory
Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart
Used to know
Things it yearns to remember
And a song
Someone sings
Once upon a December

Re: Anastasia

Secret of Nimh was a great movie...I think some of Bluth's movies are boring and cheesy...but Nimh was not...I strongly recommend it to anyone!!!!

A non-cheesy mouse film...

Nimh was very good. The first Land before Time was decent, but all the sequels have greatly belittled any greatness the first one had.

Oh, I love Anastasia so much! Definitely my favorite non-Disney film...in fact, you have just encouraged me to buy it if it's on DVD. I have to go look now...

I *LOVE* that scene...it's SO great! The song is great! I used to sing it to my baby all the time.

Not the baby that I have now. The baby that is 8 years old.
