Muppets Oz versus Star Wars

I'm beginning to think Disney (ABC) picked a bad night to premiere the new Muppet movie. This weekend would have been ideal. Instead, they are risking a severly lowered viewership with the show coming on the same weekend that Star Wars opens. Perhaps the PG-13 will keep more young audience families at home, but I think any other weekend would have gave better results. Maybe I'm wrong though.

It just seems counter-productive. Muppets need a big boost of excitement again, Star Wars does not.

Well, it should have been.

After all, Disney has interests in both franchises and since they bought Muppets, they should want them to do well.

There are going to be a lot of people who want to avoid opening weekend for Star Wars (myself included). I have been waiting this long to see it, so I can sure wait a few weeks until most people who want to see it have. Maybe people like me will need something to watch that weekend. I am SO watching that muppet movie. I love the muppets.

Not by me. You wouldn't catch me in that Star Wars movie with the tons of crowds and chances of selling out. I really want to see the movie, but can wait until the thrill is gone for the masses..besides..I really want to see the Muppets movie. Star wars will be there after.

I'm sure the sales will say otherwise. I'm just saying, it will be a lot less than it could be potentially. Another weekend would have been better I think.

It shoulda been this weekend. I agree.

But, DH and I agree that opening weekend is NOT the weekend to go with 3 kids! We'll be watching muppets, and waiting for the crowds to calm down...

I agree. It will be nice to have something good on TV to watch while the crowds battle for a seat to see Episode III. Yes, they definately should have timed it better for their sake.

i hope that star wars would not have an affect on the viewers for muppets oz. with the movie just coming out the day before, i'm sure familes will opt to see the movie during the weekend. they can share some quality time with each other on friday to see muppets oz and continue it by seeing star wars during the weekend. that's what i would do and hope many families do the same.

i was just wondering; being that disney has business with star wars, will they get a cut of the proceeds? i'm just curious.

No conflicts for me here. I love the Muppets but this one sounds kind of weird to me. I'd rather record and watch some other time, but I do that with everything anyway.

I don't think it will be a conflict at all for anyone. Other than being date night, I don't see families rushing out to see the movie Friday. Saturday will be the big day, I think.

I'm there at the midnight showing, btw.

I think Muppets is targeting younger viewers--kids who won't be standing in line for opening weekend Star Wars.

I am all about the Muppets. I'll see Star wars I'm sure, but not for a couple weeks. It's an interesting looking movie and all, but I haven't been caught up in Star Wars hype since I was about 6.
