Treasure Planet - The Movie
Well, we just returned from an advance screening of the new Disney movie, Treasure Planet. I wasn't sure what to expect, the trailers didn't seem all that appealing to me. I would have to say I was pleasantly surprised. While it wasn't Lion King, it certainly was as good as anything that has been released by Disney, non-Pixar, for the last ten years. It was exciting, a good story and a great adventure. Overall, I would have to give it 3 stars, not great, but pretty good.
One warning, it was a bit scary for my four year old during parts, so you may want to think twice about bringing little ones. My older kids loved it, and it think it was aimed more at them, the young teenagers, that it was for any other age group. Having said that, I got to see the Finding Nemo trailer, the one with "the light", for the first time on the big screen. It looked amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing this one. So, did anyone else get to see it?

I haven't even seen the second Harry Potter movie yet. Now, it looks like I have to go see Treasure Island, too. Something tells me it may be a movie-filled holiday weekend, depending on how DW feels about it.:D :)

Mickey,
Thanks for posting advanced good word on the film. I wasn't sure just what to expect either, as the trailers did nothing much for me. Looking forward to it much more, now.

We went to see it tonight. I was a little disappointed but had fun playing name that film/character with my dear fiance. Many scenes are borrowed and many characters have similar characters as those from previous films. It was a great way to start off the holiday season. I thought it could be a bit scary for little ones and could hear little voices in the theater during particular scenes. I like how Disney is addressing non-traditional family issues though. Now, I'm really looking forward to Jungle Book 2 and Nemo. The graphics for Nemo are astounding.
