I really enjoyed Narnia - I'm glad to see that it at least got some recognition.
Thanks tragic!

Cool... I wish they could have earned more, but I guess the Oscars is not really aiming at the Disney-esque crowd. Oh well...

Re: Narnia gets oscar nominations!!

This movie came out while we were on our DL trip last month. They had the world premier there and it was a pretty neat event. For some reason I didn't get a chance to see the movie until a week and a half ago, and it was good. It stuck to the spirit of the book rather well...

Re: Narnia gets oscar nominations!!

I was sort of disappointed by the film. I felt Aslan was not explained well enough before his appearance.

As I told Lil' if the movie was based on a recent story and not an enduring classic, I don't think it would have gotten much attention.

Believe me, I WANTED to love this film, but I only found it "okay."

OMG! I'm so surprised you guys weren't impressed! I was totally blown away by the movie. I thought it was one of the best I've ever seen!

Weren't you even impressed with the special effects? They made some ground breaking strides in effects just for this film! I bought the making of the film book for DS for Christmas and DH has been reading it instead.

I guess I'm "special effects"-out. Matrix, LoTR, Star Wars--Narnia needed special effects to make it work, but more emphasis on character development would have been much better.

BTW, I thought some of the scenes were somewhat low-budget. Often you'd have the kids in front of a blue screen, and it was obviously blue screen.

Re: Narnia gets oscar nominations!!

I typically like the book better than the movie and that was definitely the case with The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Aslan was good, but I expected more from him, especially since he is a Christ-like figure.

But I did enjoy the movie, in part since I have been waiting for it since I was about 7 years old. Overall it was fun and gets my imagination bubbling...

I want a wardrobe...
