Narnia: Prince Caspian

Disney is reporting that filming of the second book in the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian, will begin in January, with a scheduled release date of May 2008.

Filming for the third book, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, is to begin a year after production is complete on PC.

Boy, seems a bit slow to me. At this rate, the last film won't be released until 2026! I'll be close to 60yo at that point!!!!!! (Some of you will be dead--but I don't want to get you down or anything. )

I wish they would take a page from LotR and shoot all the films consecutively, then release them one a year for the next seven years.

Too slow for me, too. LOTR had it right. Even if they didn't shoot all the books consecutively, at least group them into twos and threes to speed up the release process.

Re: Narnia: Prince Caspian

Yes it's a slow process guys, but to shoot movies consecutively is a HUGE gamble. If but one movie doesn't hold well, it'll REALLY hurt the others that follow. It worked for LoTR, but again that was A VERY EXPENSIVE AND HUGE GAMBLE. Look what happened with The Matrix. The first was great. They shot the next 2 consecutively, movies didn't do well AT ALL, studio lost MILLIONS. So better slow and steady always wins. That way if Narnia loses steam, they don't have to finish the series and don't lose all that money, although with as good as the first one was I'm very sure they'll get them all done eventually.

Well, the children are supposed to age a bit. Maybe they were waiting till they looked older enough for it to show?

Yeah, but I think 40 is a bit too old for the part.

I. Swear.

You remind me of my dad in EVERY. SINGLE. WAY.

Every time I read Cavey's posts, I can practically predict what he's going to say because I just imagine my dad talking.

Thanks for the update Cavey! I was begining to wonder if they were going to film anymore of the series. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the second book in the series and Prince Caspian the 4th. But they were not actually written in that order. So I wonder if they are going to make all 7 but in the order that they were published or just make a couple of them. If you really want to understand the story behind the witch and how Narnia began you should read the first book, The Magician's Nephew. It's kind of a prequel.

You're so funny.
I agree though, that's a bit too long to wait. And I don't like waiting.

Well, that's the order the publishers want them in at the moment; a boy had written to Lewis suggesting the chronological order and the closest he ever got to agreeing with it was saying, "you may be right" but he never said that was the official way they should be read. I'm of the opinion that they are read best in the order they were published in, with the origin of Narnia coming in book 6, and being introduced to Aslan the way Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are.
