Hannah Montana Open Casting Call & 100th Post

I thought I'd use my 100th post wisely and share our experience with the Hannah Montana open casting call in Nashville, TN on April 6. This has NOTHING to do with being slack about posting the info. prior to now!

We're about 2 hours from Music City, so we decided to make the trek. DS (13) and DDs (10 & 6) felt they were up to the challenge, but the only challenge proved to be the incredible wait to get in to the Sommet Center. One article I read after the fact estimated the turn-out at about 2,000 girls, but I'm not sure what the total count was. The line stretched clear around the building and it even overlapped on one side. We got there at about 8:30, and the call was scheduled for 11-1. I'm sure it went longer. We brought chairs, games, snacks, and prepared for a long wait. It was really fun to see the many different people that showed up! The folks managing the group opened the doors at around 10, I think, so the line moved fairly steadily after that.

The procedure was fairly simple and quick. We filled out a card for each child and submitted a 4 x 6 photo. That was it! A posted sign said that extras (for non-speaking parts) could be called anytime from early May until July or so, and the filming would be taking place outside of Nashville.

I'm glad that we went, as it was pretty cool to experience something like that. If we get called, GREAT! If not, we'll have fun looking for others that were in that line when the flick is released. Of course, my children are so cute that WE'LL GET CALLED!

Kidding, of course, but it was one of those experiences that we couldn't pass up. Did anyone else go?

I hope your kids do get called. It would be a lot of fun for them to see. Massachusetts has been having tons of open calls for acting extras. I might give it a try over the summer with the kids.

Well, we got an invitation in the mail yesterday to attend the filming of a concert in a county fair setting in June!!! So excited!!! No cameras allowed, though, so there will be no picture posting.

We're so excited to have been called via yesterday's invitation! We'll be heading for filming in June... as part of the crowd, of course.

That is SUPER EXCITING!!!!! Your kids must be bouncing off the walls with excitement. I can't wait to hear how it goes. Regardless, they get to see a concert (most kids would just love THAT opportunity). Probably thier favorite songs over and over
