A Donald Duck cartoon you'll never see in WDW resorts

I stumbled across this little lost gem from 1942 starring Donald Duck.
This is not a spoof. This is the genuine article.
Donald Duck starring in "Der Fuhrer's Face", basically part of Disney's WW2 propaganda efforts.
Extremely politically incorrect in today's climate, when made, this was main stream and very allowable.
I placed this in the resort thread because the resorts all run the same loop of Disney cartoons in the lobbies and on channel 96 in all the deluxe resorts and I just don't know how many more times I can see Steamboat Willie in a week! They have switched out a few of the cartoons for different ones, but with the depth of the Disney catalog, they should be able to run much longer between repeats. Sadly, some of the cartoons are like Donald here and are locked in the vault next to the master prints for Song of the South.

I have seen this before. No, I'm thinking we won't see this one shown anytime soon at WDW.

Re: A Donald Duck cartoon you'll never see in WDW

I found another one.
You've got to remember the times that these were made during.
A real world war and truly horrible times with all Americans sacrificing and rationing so that we could win.
Very non-PC today.

Edit: I pulled the link. This wasn't a fun cartoon in any way. It is called "The Story of 'Hitler's Children' as adapted from Education For Death."
Real dark stuff indeed. I can well imagine how wound up audiences in 1943 would have gotten upon viewing this.

I almost wet myself a few times while watching. This is in such bad taste that it's good.

It is really funny though. Even if it looks like they ripped off the ammunition assembly line from Bugs Bunny.

Re: A Donald Duck cartoon you'll never see in WDW

Here's a much better Donald. Really funny and only slightly offensive to our Japanese guests.
Commando Duck, a really good transfer with German subtitles (double funny!) in which Donald wipes out an entire Japanese air base and it's aircraft, all by himself.

These are treasures from the non-PC collection.

Re: A Donald Duck cartoon you'll never see in WDW

I have a few of those odd cartoons, actually. You know those 1 dollar DVDs they sell at Wal-Mart? Miss Caisley picked out a few and some of them had a couple WWII shorts on them. They were Disney cartoons, but produced under Warner Bros, I think?? Whoever produced them, I remember thinking it was odd.

It's actually kind of a cool part of our history. Our country really used to be wholly and unconditionally united on issues, huh? I mean, I really can't imagine showing my young children that cartoon!

They show one of these at the International Spy Museum in Washington DC. I watched just the end but it looks familiar.

There's a reason why we'll never see this in WDW, a good reason at that.

Re: A Donald Duck cartoon you'll never see in WDW

I moved this thread..I understand your reasoning that cartoons play in the lobby's of the hotels but this doesn't belong in this section of the forum.

These cartoons are included on the Walt Disney Treasure DVD "On the Front Lines."
