I'm not a cartoon writer or anything near that but I wanna say the drawing, story plot and music are terrible in my opinion compare to the original. I seriously want Disney to reconsider their quality of the sequels. Please !!!! don't devalue the original.

Sorry to be so harsh but just a view from a true Disney fan.

I understand your feelings, totally. I think they look at it as a whole 'nother marketing outlet. I don't think they are made for the hardcore Disney fans like you and I. I think they are made to entertain little kids who may not be as into 'the art' and history of the animation originals like we are. I would ask Disney to just create different movies straight for DVD and not these silly sequels.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

I think it's a bit of each from the choices that you said. I think most of the sequel animations are worse than the original one. I don't dare to say 'all' as I haven't watched all the sequel so there might be some of the sequel that is also good. The bad drawing and bad songs qualities are because they are direct to DVD and they don't spend as much amount of money as the original one which is direct to the cinema. That's what I think. If Disney can improve this point, they will definitely attract more customers and the sequel will be a hit like the original.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

I also voted for other. I think Disney puts out sequels to sell more merchandise. Little kids get attached to characters they love and Disney fills their need by creating these "films."

I loved that one also!! What an amazing movie, both the first and the second.

Most sequels aren't that great for me, but I think my kids like them too. Especially dd with High School Musical, she loved one and two equally, we will see about number 3.

I got confused about this one! And where is the action and the villains! I really don't like Tinkerbell the movie.

Exactly.

I did vote that the story lines are poorly done, however, that's coming from an adult perspective. I completely agree with you, Daisee, that the movies are more for kids who love a particular character. I know my kids have relly enjoyed a lot of the sequels.

Absolutely! I actually like it better than the first one.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

I picked "Other" because there wasn't an "All of the above". Other than Toy Story 2, they are generally of poor quality. I can't imagine any Pixar movie falling to the level Alladdin 3...

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

Toy Story 2 (and the Pirates Trilogy) were at the movie theaters, not straight to video, are there any others? Apparently these were successful as compared to the other sequels.

I agree with most. Had to choose other because all of the above was not an option. They tend to just not be up to the originals' quality.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

Originals are always so wonderful, amazing... MAGICAL! The plots, the characters, everything!

Sequels plots are always horribly, and often times REALLY change the characters in a lot of ways. In mind frame, in the way the talk, the things they do. I just am really against Disney sequels. I usually don't even watch them. Some aren't so horrible such as the Cinderella sequels. And some are really GOOD! Such as Lion King's sequels. And then some just sound sooo horrible, see: The Little Mermaid 3....... an underground dance club? (Uhhh, thats the same story as FootLoose.....)

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

I agree that most of the sequels are bad for one reason or another. Disney leads the industry in going to the well one too many times.

However, I though Bambi II was extremely well done.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

Some of the story plots are just TERRIBLE for sequels like STAR WARS EPISODE 3 REVENGE OF THE SITH. It should not have been Anakin Skywalker who turned into Vader.
Then again, in the last movie episode 6 Return of the Jedi Obi-wan Does mention that Anakin turned into Vader so it was kinda set in stone. and i know star wars isnt a disney movie but im using it as an example.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

I also had to vote for "other," since most of the direct-to-DVD sequels I've seen have been pretty bad. Lion King did better than most. What little I've seen of Cinderella III was hideous.

Re: What do you think about disney sequel animations?

I voted for other, because generally, to me, its all of the above. I can easily tell when something's been sequeled, ESPECIALLY an older film like Bambi or Cinderella, because technology is updated and drawing styles change. Thats the nature of evolution. Whether or not its for the better is up for grabs.. (ie. Bambi 2's animation actually looked pretty top notch but it just wasn't the same...whereas the Aladdin sequels make me cringe.)

Despite all that, the storytelling is what really blows. I think Disney's best animated sequel to date would be The Rescuers; Down Under but thats just me, and everyone's got their opinion.
