Yesterday it made over 17 million dollars. It looks like it will be #1.

I actually liked it much better that HSM 2 and just a little behind HSM 1. I love the dance scenes, they all seemed so much bigger.[/QUO

I'm sorry I must not have explained clearly. I don't have any trouble with hairy men, I was shocked at "Troy" having hairy pits because that makes him so grown up. I am used to him being a child. Maybe when you are as old as I am you think kids will always be kids. I apologize if I upset you with my opinion, I wasn't intending to be offensive.

I said before Chelsey went to see this on Wednesday and loved every moment of it- however, there was a bit of controversy here in England anyway- and that was alot of the cinemas did their first showing at 9.a.m- This meant alot of kids took an un-official day off school to see the movie as it is soooo popular here!
The schools were complaining this was irresponsible on behalf of the cinema chains

Nope, not upset or offended. I totally get it. He is a man now, in HSM 1 they were all so much younger. I wonder how much longer he'll play younger rolls. In his next upcoming movie, 17 Again, he plays a 17 year old.

We first saw them as younger teens and it is weird to see them so grown up.

They can blame the cinema chains all they want, I see irresponsibility on the the part of the parents. If parents choose to let their kids take the time off or if their kids took the time off without their knowledge, then maybe it is a parental issue. The cinemas are doing what they always do, trying to make money.

Btw, glad your DD loved it too.

Re: High School Musican 3: Senior Year...

I went to see HSM3 opening night (band and cheerleaders didn't have to attend football game due to rain, so par-tay time!) and absolutely loved it. The choreography and music just gets better with each movie. You can tell they put more money into each sequel. The sets in this movie were just fab-u-lous. I also found the plot rather realistic (though, I'll admit, the opening scene with the "16 minutes" was pretty cheesey, especially when Gabriella was cheering Troy on). It focuses on real high school conflicts.... like deciding where to go and what to do after high school. Most of us are just lost (except me... I picked my major in 3rd grade... still, deciding what school is difficult). And there's always that feeling of letting your parents down, as well as your peers.

My favorite scene was the Ryan and Sharpay duet (theirs are always my favorites) about bigger is better and better is bigger. The set changes in that scene alone were amazing. I also enjoyed the "boys are back" Troy and Chad duet. Then the prom night song was quite funny.... love how the girls are excited and the guys are less-than-enthused.

And Sharpay is just the perfect villian. She knows what she wants and is determined to get it. Throughout the three HSM movies, she never gives up. Not to mention, she's incredibly smart at getting her way. Although there are several scenes that they attempt to play her off as stupid (she does act extremely stupid around Troy in HSM2...), it really proves her self-obsession more than lack of intelligence ("So when's the big game?" "Yesterday." "Good luck!" ). I was a bit worried that Sharpay would cave in when the little London Performing Arts girl took her role, but not to worry - Sharpay went out there and fought for center stage. She really is her own motivation, and although she doesn't have much concern for anyone but herself, I cannot help but admire her determination.

Definitely agree with short skirts and dresses. I was afraid Gabriella's undies were going to show in that rooftop waltz number. Her airy sundress was getting really high during her twirls....

And they dressed her in white during what I assume was March (basketball championships...). That bothered me.... she was wearing a skimpy little dress, while Troy was in jeans and a hoodie. That makes sense...

I hope they don't make a 4th though. This ending was perfect and I don't think the new characters could pull off a whole movie.

$42 million is amazing. I believe they broke another record. I think I read it was the highest grossing musical film.

You gotta love Sharpay and her determination. Yeah, she can come off as mean, but the girl knows what she want and isn't afraid to do what it takes to get it. I knew her new "assistant" was up to something. I also knew the new girls would never get the better of Sharpay.

That is exactly what I was referring to. I LOVED that scene, the song and the dance were really good and amazing on the big screen. But, yeah, the dress was way too short for that number.

Plus in "The Boys are Back" number (in the salvage yard) I really felt like we didn't need to see Troy's underwear.

Re: High School Musican 3: Senior Year...

Took DD5 this afternoon, and totally want to watch it again! I was a bit sappy thru the whole thing, but I really liked it! I thought the plot was a touch weak, but the music and the choreography (especially the choreography) were over the TOP! 3 cheers for Kenny Ortega! What a talent!

My favorite scene was the rooftop scene with Troy and Gabriella. I thought the song and the dancing were just beautiful. Very touching.

I have to agree the wardrobe department could have used a little more fabric in some scenes!

Waiting for the DVD....
