Oh- wait- you mean that wasn't a trailer for The Lion King? I thought there was something wrong with my glasses.:nooo:
Only kidding.

The animation looks great as always, but I'm a little tired of seeing the same old thing all the time. That's why I thought Nemo was great. It wasn't yet another retelling of something they'd done before.

I'm not too thrilled about this one yet. I think it's time the company rethinks itself before it gets stuck in the groove it was in during the years prior to Mermaid.

I hope it turns out to be more original than it looks in the trailer. For now, I jocularly call it, "Brother Lion King Bear". I hope it's good for kids, at least.

We had the chance to meet one of the animators last week at MGM on the animation tour that worked on Brother Bear. My 2 sons are excited about it because they got to see some of the drawings and models that they have on display from the movie.

That will definitely add to the enjoyment. I once took a "White Glove" tour through the Animation department at MGM. I was there while they were putting on the finishing touches to Hercules- and from the clips and sketches I saw, it looked like it was going to be SO much better than it actually turned out. What was neat about that tour was that we also got to see a lot of Pocahontas drawings still up on the wall, and then got to paint our own Mickey cell. That was great fun.

I think your kids will definitely love the movie because of that special connection. That's one of the cool things about MGM's animation studio. I remember visiting when they were previewing sketches from what was then called, "King of the Jungle"- a movie about African wildlife that was mildly modeled on MacBeth, we were told.

Of course it turned out to be The Lion King. That was neat to see items from it during it's early incarnations.

The one thing about Disney movies is that at the very least, you know there is generally a wholesome quality that sets it apart from other animated features. There's usually a moral, and often a lot of great "Disney" moments.

I must be getting too old for this sort of thing. The only trailer that mildly interested me was that one with the 3D superhero, and I didn't even know if that was a real movie or a joke.

dont let that happen .. dont ever get too old for the simple enjoyments .. I babysat little darling Killdeers the other day while our land was being mowed .. it was so amazing .. these tiny darling little birds, that lay cupped in my hand so sweet and gentle and even hoping on my shoulder .. then there is the blue bird nest box we are monitoring (DH keeps telling the youngest DGD that she should train them to sit on our shoulder) this is the second clutch of the year, its sooo amazing!! and then there were the deer that were grazing in the back a couple of weeks ago real live Bambi's .. sometimes .. I feel like I am in a disney annimated cartoon *grin* .. of course yes .. even brer rabbit has been spotted way out back near the woods. And there is a beginning of a tree house that DH started before he got sick .. that we wanted to make like the Swiss Family Treehouse complete with a rope bridge connecting the other giant oak.
remember when every tree was perfect for a treehouse and every clumb of bushes made a great hiding place .. card board boxes made the best forts... and you could make a tent in your room using sheets!!
no dont get to old .. grow up but dont grow old!!

Thanks, Tink.;) - By the way, has anyone seen the trailer for the non-Disney live action movie version of Peter Pan? That looked somewhat intriguing. Ironically, I think it's by Universal.

Don't have to worry about me 'growing up' -

:) - I've already passed "the age of not believing"- and still am here. Unfortunately, part of really growing up gives us less time to enjoy the things we used to the way we used to.

But I'll remember that. ;)

I saw the preview for Brother Bear when we saw Finding Nemo. From what I gather, it is about a Native American (maybe Inuit?) who gets magically trasformed into a bear (grizzly, I think). He is befriended by a little bear (Kodiak, I think), whose parents were killed by humans. I think it is about understanding how man must be percieved by animals and the consequences of our actions. It is that whole "circle of life" thing...I thought it was pretty touching and it looks beautifully animated (of course!). Can't remember when it's coming out though.

my fiance and i checked out the animation tour at MGM when we were there at the beginning of the month. i read about it in the birnbaum book and suggested it to him. we met one of the animators for "brother bear" and he drew a sketching of koda. it was amazing; the tour and the sketching he did right in front of our eyes. the best part of the tour was the it was the last tour for the day, and there was almost 20 of us because the rest of the park was at fantasmic. i think "brother bear" will be a great movie. i like the story line and i think it'll bring many brothers together.
