Movies Based On Park Attractions

Man this is great news! I can't wait for the Pirates of the Caribbean THE MOVIE!
See the attached link to the Orlando Sentinel:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busin...502may15.story

It also states that June 26th for the opening of the Country Bears movie. No time table for the Haunted Mansion.

I'm interested in The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy (assuming his casting rumor is true) and the Pirates of the Carribean sounds intriguing. I will admit to have no desire whatsoever to see a movie about The Country Bears. I can't even begin to fathom the type of role that Christopher Walken will have.

I have seen the Country Bears trailer, and I would have to say that I was disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing this, but now I have no interest at all, though I am sure my kids will.

Country Bears Movie Trailer

It will be interesting to see the Haunted Mansion and POC, but I don't see how they are going to incorporate the rides into the movies. Maybe that isn't their intention, and they are just using the themes as a basis for a movie.

This movie looks really disapointing. I was looking forward to seeing it but not now. I really hope they do a better job with their other attraction movies. I think Disney could have done a lot better on this.

With all of the sequels & attraction movies, it almost looks like they're running low on ideas. I'm not too thrilled with these at all, to be honest.

As long as they never make a Small World movie...that would scare me more than any horror movie!

Depp inks for double dose of Bruckheimer
Sun Jun 9, 7:37 PM ET
Zorianna Kit

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Johnny Depp, action star?

Jerry Bruckheimer thinks so.

The independent-minded Depp -- who has worked with such talents as the eccentric Tim Burton ("Sleepy Hollow") and the exiled Roman Polanski ("The Ninth Gate") -- is in the process of agreeing to star in two films for action impresario Bruckheimer.

Depp is in negotiations to sign a two-picture deal with the Walt Disney Co. that will see the actor working on back-to-back action projects for the producer, "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Takedown."

The actor would shoot "Pirates" for director Gore Verbinski in October and then segue into the March start for "Takedown," which Michael Haussman is directing.

Although the deal with Bruckheimer marks a departure for Depp, it will reunite him with Disney, where he's worked only once before, in the 1994 Touchstone Pictures feature " Ed Wood," directed by Burton.

"Pirates" focuses on a daring attempt to rescue someone from dangerous pirates who are trying to reverse an ancient curse. Depp will play the lead pirate, Jack. The most recent draft of "Pirates," which is based on the legendary Disney theme park ride, was penned by "Shrek" scribes Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, working from earlier drafts from Jay Wolpert and Stuart Beattie.

"Takedown," based on Carsten Stroud's 1996 graphic nonfiction book "Deadly Force: In the Streets With the U.S. Marshals," revolves around a U.S. marshal (Depp) in pursuit of an assassin who raped and almost killed a female colleague/former lover. The marshal eventually learns that his target is protected by another branch of the U.S. government.

Jerry Stahl wrote the most recent draft of the script. Previous writers include John Lee Hancock, Henry Bean, Laith Zawawi and John Norville.

Bruckheimer Films' Mike Stenson and Chad Oman are executive producing both projects.

Depp is repped by UTA and Bloom, Hergott, Deimer & Cook. He will begin shooting Miramax Films' "Neverland" for director Marc Forester next week. He next stars in Miramax's "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" for writer-director Robert Rodriguez.

Unfortunately, what's going to happen is that the creative team behind this "concept" will totally forget what the ride was about - totally miss what people get out of it- and totally make their own "version" - with no respect to the ride whatsoever.
If I were to make a movie of Pirates, I'd want ot explain the little vignettes we see along the journey. A movie of the Country Bears would be that -- COUNTRY bears, not that junk they show in the trailer.
When I think of Haunted Mansion - I DO NOT think of Eddie Murphy ( and doesn't he work for Universal, anyway???).

They never get this right. somewhere along the way, the formula goes bad. So they might as well forget the whole idea.

I saw the Country Bears trailer & I swear, I gagged. I'm really disappointed in the obvious lack of creativity displayed by Disney movies lately. I don't even want to think about Haunted Mansion, PotC or ToT & what they may do to them! :(
