Bambi II and Toy Story III
Here's an exerpt from an Article on Patrick Stewart. It primarily dealt with Star Trek and the future of the franchise along with some of Patrick's other current roles. But near the very end it confirmed a sequel that I feel Disney should have never considered...
"[Patrick] Stewart will be doing several productions, including voice work for "Racing Stripes," "The Water Warriors" and the upcoming Disney movie, "Bambi II." However, he did encourage fans to look forward to him on the big screen again ..." Perhaps more shocking is the news that Disney may produce their own Toy Story sequel without the help of Pixar. Obviously Disney owns the characters and Movie rights, but I am not so sure this is a wise move either... "Tom Staggs, Disney senior executive vice president and chief financial officer, said Disney management could not accept Pixar's final offer because it would have cost Disney hundreds of millions of dollars it is already entitled to under the existing agreement, while not providing sufficient incremental returns on new collaborations to justify the changes to the existing deal. In addition to Pixar's delivery of two more feature films, under the current agreement, Disney maintains the rights to develop and produce sequels to all films created through this partnership, including direct to video presentations, television series and specials; and to exploit all characters and content throughout Disney's theme park and consumer products units, thereby allowing Disney to continue to nurture and grow these successful franchises while benefiting Disney shareholders into the foreseeable future. Disney also owns the entire Disney/Pixar film library, which includes Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., and Finding Nemo, in addition to the two pictures yet to be completed." In addition to Pixar, the Walt Disney Studios has relationships with other emerging animation producing partners including Vanguard Films, currently producing Valiant, and San Francisco-based Complete Pandemonium, producing The Wild in conjunction with CORE Technologies of Toronto. Walt Disney Feature Animation will release Home on the Range on April 2, featuring songs performed by Tim McGraw, Bonnie Raitt and k.d. lang. Currently in production is Chicken Little, the Studio's first all-CG effort, which is scheduled for release in Summer 2005. For Summer 2006 and beyond, Walt Disney Feature Animation is producing a series of 3D motion pictures: A Day With Wilbur Robinson, based on the beloved William Joyce book; American Dog, directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo and Stitch); Rapunzel Unbraided, directed by legendary Disney animator Glen Keane; and Toy Story 3. These movies are all anticipated to break new ground in CG movie-making. The Studio has an additional 20 animated features in active development". Source: Disney.com Corporate Press, January 29, 2004. I hope this is not old news, but I did find both features most unsettling with me. I am weary to say the least.

WOW!:hmmm I'm sorry, but the only good Disney sequel, in my humble opinion, was Toy Story 2. Disney has done a very disappointing job with its sequels (Cinderella 2, Pocahontas 2, The Rescuers Down Under). They should let the classics stand alone. Why must they make our beloved Disney characters grow up, and have children? What's next? Snow White 2?
I cannot imagine Disney making a sequel to Bambi, and a Toy Story 3 without Pixar is like cereal without milk!:nooo:

I agree Amy, I also wonder what Disney can do with Toy Story without Pixar. Bambi II? I wish Disney could come up with new stories instead of having to go back to classics to get ideas.

I agree leave the classic movies alone. I think that once they started touch the classic moives and making sequals it mess up the magic the moives held the first time we all sat and dreamed along with the moive.:(

Bambi II is what happens when the people in charge buy into formulas and the watching the bottom line, instead of having a bold vision and understanding the brand.
Come on guys (Disney BoD) lets do something GREAT (AGAIN)!

I to would hate to see Pixar and Disney split company.Pixar brought a breath of fresh air to Disney movies over the last couple years.Dinosar could have been a great movie if done correctly but it was a flop the CG was great but the story stunk.Disney was built on good story telling and they seem to have lost that recently.I am a huge fan on Toy story 1 and 2 but I think they should take Pixars advice and end it there,Pixar didnt want to do a Toy story two.Bambi two mistake it will stink like all there other strait to video twos, sorry but I dont want to see Snow whites kids.I hope there is still a little of Walts vision still at that company to guide the way.:)

The only Disney films I ever thought sequels would be appropriate were Alice in Wonderland and Aladdin. Only because sequels to those kind of make sense. Of course they screwed up Aladdin by not including Robin Williams and I guess it's best if they leave Alice happily Ever After at this point.
I accept a sequel if it's not just to make a sequel but rather to further a story like Toy Story II or the Rescuers Down Under.

This is a very interesting thread! I too have to agree that sequals in my book don't make a lot of sence. I'm sure that they make sence on the bottom line... but come on... IMAGINATION is what Disney is built on!!!

Let's not forget Dumbo II was a solid go up until some time ago... There's concept story and drawings on Dumbo's DVD, at least there is in the Region 4 edition.
