Disney credit card reward dollars

Hi:) Well, I've managed to accumulate some reward dollars on my disney credit card and requested a reward card so that I can use them on my next visit. I'm sure that will give me more information on where/how they can be used. I was just wondering from people who have used their reward dollars if they can be used anywhere in the disney parks/resorts, and in the disney stores in DTD? Thanks:)

I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and I don't think it came with any information about where I can use it. I think you can use it at the Disney Store, Disney Direrct and any place in the parks that would normally take your room key as a credit card.

You can use it anywhere in the parks or at your resort that takes a credit card. You just hand it over just like if you were using your Disney VISA, and you get a receipt back showing your balance on the card after the purchase. In DTD, you can use it at any of the Disney owned stores.

The rewards cards are wonderful! We just got back, and never had to pay cash for a meal on the Disney property. We also used the card to purchase gifts. The only place we had any problem, was the magic shop at Downtown Disney....apparently they were having some kind of problem with thier machinery, and they couldn't take the rewards card and they couldn't charge anything on our room key either, they had to have cash or a credit card. I'm not sure, but it sounded like this had been a problem for them for a long time.

As long as it is a Disney owned facilities, they should take the card with no problems.

We used ours on our last trip. It was great to have a little extra money for meals and souvenirs. We had no problems at all using it at WDW.

You can use them anywhere on Disney Property.
I even used mine at a snack card once.
The two I had last trip took care of all our soviners!!

We should have around $600.00 in reward dollars by the time we go. I plan to use them all for my shopping!!!

I am trying to save up the max amount of reward points (750) before cashing in. I want to use it to help pay for a stay at the Polynesian Resort or the rehab Contemporary room (they showed one on another website and it looked amazing). I still have a ways to go. I think I have about 180 reward points now.

Be aware that points do expire after a period of time. Not sure how long it will take you to get to 750, but it would be a shame to lose so points trying to get there!

DW and I use our rewards points every year to pay for our annual passes. As much as we use our APs, I think it's the most value we could possibly get out of the rewards points.

I just called about the reward points. If the points are on the Disney Visa they are valid for 5 years from the time they are earned. But if you have your points transferred to a Disney Rewards card (which is like a debit card) they expire a year from the time they are put on the rewards card. They said basically that having the rewards card is so you can just show your card and have the points/disney dollars deducted from the card instead of carrying around a handful of disney dollars. The one time I redeemed my points I just had called the visa company and had them send me the disney dollars rather then the rewards card.

So if you are going to redeem points you can either get the rewards card or get the disney dollars.

Just thought I would pass on the info. Alot of people probably know all this already but it was new to me.

Thatnks, Cara. That's how I understood it as well. I was a little surprised to get my reward card and see it expires in December--18 months after I got it. I am a little confused by that, I don't know if the reward dollars/points on it expire before that and I can add more points to the card and use those until that date. No matter how it works I am going to use all of the points this summer so it doesn't matter.

I think I am going to let my points "ride on the Visa". I know I have at least 3 more years until they expire. I will probably break down and cash them in before I hit the 750 mark. We will see....

I got mine in Feb. 2004 and will be "reloading" it for our Oct trip. That is definetly a great think, that it can be reloaded until expires. Mine actually expires in Dec. 2005. I used mine in the POR gift shop to buy Pal Mickey, this time I've accumulated more and can't wait to use it. I LOVE IT!
