Ordering Disney Rewards Card

I am about to order my first rewards card and wanted some tips before I actually do it. For some reason I have this fear that I will transfer all of my points to the card and it will get lost in the mail. Is it better to only transfer the minimum 20 pts. to order the card and then transfer the rest to the card once I receive it????

Also, how long does it take to recieve the card? My trip is in Dec. and I want to be sure I have it in plenty of time.

How easy is it to transfer more points to that card once you receive it. I plan on earning points right up until we leave. Is the transfer of points instant??

Thanks for the input. Trying to make this as easy and frustration free as possible.

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

I tried to do this the other day and I couldn't. Why? It turns out that although the card has my name on it, it's not really my card. The card is in my husband's name, and I am not a joint cardholder, but rather a 50's throwback on his account subject to his manly whim.

I suspect it's because I filled out the application (for both of us) that was officially addressed to him.

So... make sure you are the primary cardholder before you call.

That's all I've got, since I wasn't allowed to talk about anything. Womenfolk have to be kept in their place! LOL

I did mine online. It arrived in about 2 weeks, I think. I haven't tried to reload it yet, so I can't help you there.

I had to comment on this....you just made me laugh so hard. My Mom has these issues with credit cards cause my Dad is the primary account name...You just sounded exactly like she does...sorry to interrupt this thread...just had to comment and giggle.

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

I called and asked about adding points the other day. I currently have a reward card and once you have one you can just call and instantly have the reward points added on - but only after the statement closes for that month. There is an expiration date on the card, so you can only add points to that reward card up til that expiration date.

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

How about my fear of it getting lost in the mail. Did you guys put all of your points on the card when you ordered it?

Has anyone transferred more points onto an existing card online, not by phone?

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

DH is the primary and I an authorized user. I ordered our card online and transfer only online... like others said you have to be the primary to do it on the phone. It took about a week to receive the card. Your points accumulate monthly. Once your billing period ends you should be able to view your points online even before you get the paper statement in the mail. So, the reward points are not available on a daily basis. You may then transfer reward points online and have them available immediately. I'd just order the card with the minimum and then transfer the rest when you receive your card. At the resort, we were able to give the front desk our rewards card and they applied the points to our purchases. Very nice!

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

When you get the card, it is just like a credit card, where you have to call in and activate the card. If it gets lost, just let them know, they will send you a new one and void out the old one. You won't lose anything.

Yippee! I just ordered my reward card so that I make sure that we have it in time for our trip:) Nothing like "free" money.

I wouldn't worry about it. I had all my points sent to me on my card and it came a little less than two weeks later. It came in a plain envelope like when you get a new credit card. It didn't advertise like "here are your free points, etc" on the envelope or anything. I am sure it will be safe. I've never added points on on-line, I didn't even know you could do that.

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

O.K. I just ordered it online. I only put 20 pts. on it (the minimum amount) just to be safe. I'll then transfer the rest of the points a few weeks before I leave for my trip in Dec. I hope it is as easy as it seems!!!

I haven't yet decided what I will be spending my "free money" on yet. I don't know if I should apply it to the room or use it for souveneirs. I'll have about 200 points by the time we leave!!!

Could you give me the link? I really wanted to do it online and I just couldn't find out where I could.

Obviously it's there. Perhaps I AM too dumb to be a primary cardholder.

Re: Ordering Disney Rewards Card

I just went to the web site on the back of my credit card. Had to set up a username and password.

My account is set up on bankone.com. I can manage all of my accounts (checking, savings, disney visa) on that one website.
