paying for trip w/rewards
Has anyone ever used their reward card to pay part of your balance on your WDW vacation package? Right now I have 375 points and we're not going until April. I'm hoping to get my reward card at some point and using it towards my package cost. Is this possible? Has anyone ever done this?

A few weeks before your trip call the visa company. They will transfer your points to a reward card (it is like a debit card) and they will mail it to you. Or you can ask them to send you disney dollars. About 2 years ago I redeemed 65 points and had them send me the 65 in disney dollars. I used them at the hotel like cash.

DH and I were thinking of putting our whole trip on the Disney card and then paying it off, just so we earn the points. Then redeeming the points on the trip in December. Does anyone know if that would work? We've only had the card for a month.

PrincessPooh, that will definitely work. We do it all the time. Not only do we put our disney hotel stay and tickets on the card, we also put my parents' room on our card to earn even more points (then they pay us back when the bill comes in).
We have almost 500 points...we are trying to max out at the 750 points they allow before redeeming. We are hoping to put it towards a 4 day stay at a deluxe resort. The way we are going we may hit the 750 mark next year. |

We too actually used our reward card "points" toward our balance on our package.
Once you get the reward card it works exactly like a debit card.

When we went last year we were able to collect Disney rewards on our card for booking the trip on our disney visa card. We did just like you, had just gotten the card a couple of months before booking. The disney rewards came in real good when it came time to buy souveniers!!

They actually had Disney Visa applications with people walking around the movie theater tonight at PotC 2 trying to get everyone to sign up. They were giving out free Mickey t-shirts for applying.

Thanks for the info, folks! My wife just signed up for the card a couple months ago and she has racked up 4 points in a few weeks. Nowhere near as much as y'all, but at least it is a start
