Disney Visa

How long does it take rewards to post to an account?
And how do people get so many points? I charge everything we buy and pay it off right away that month but can a person charge their house payments to this card then pay it off? I am looking for any way to get more rewards.
What does everyone charge to their cards to get 500 or more rewards a year?

The site for the Visa is really vauge about everything and so far they never posted the free dinning to the site yet and it has been 20 days since it started? I found out about it here then days later got an email from the Visa site telling me about it?

Help I want to learn anything I can about earning rewards before our Sept 19th trip to WDW! I want any and all tips you all have up your sleeves!

Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: Disney Visa

We have been using the Disney Visa for years now. We charge and pay it completely off each month. We use it in place of cash just to earn reward points.

To answer your question about what can you charge to earn so many points.. well.. we charge.. gas, groceries, take out, restaurants, just about anything you pay cash for these days, you can charge. I don't have any tricks, but I can tell you we wear out a least 2 cards per year from swiping it so much.

The key is to PAY IT OFF each month.

Re: Disney Visa

Is the card through Chase? We have Chase Platinum and we get rewards on that but we should switch to the Disney card. It would make alot more sense for us.

Re: Disney Visa

We charged our DVC down payment to our card and got great rewards for that. We also had a deal for no interest for 6 months on the dp.
What you would need to do is charge any & everything that you can pay off and not end up in debt over. That way you are using it for the convience and for the rewards not to rack up bills that actaully prevent you from debt.

Re: Disney Visa

I pay phone bills, cable bills, groceries, gas - which is a major purchase now!
anything that can be paid by credit card, I use it for.

and like said before, the secret is to track your purchases and pay it off in full every month.

I deduct the card amounts right out of my checkbook so I only use it for available cash.

All of the things mentioned and don't forget to charge your vacation to the card and use the points earned on a later vacation!

Re: Disney Visa

Pretty much what everyone else said . . . we put EVERYTHING on the card that we possibly can. AND pay it off at the end of the month. It took us a little over a year to be just under 500 reward dollars.
Jennatrz, it is through Chase. Maybe you can switch it over! Go to Disney's® VISA® for info.

Re: Disney Visa

With the gas prices being so high ($3.59 today in Michigan) and the 5X the rewards points from April-June on gas, dining and groceries; I'm hoping to rack up the points.

Re: Disney Visa

We use it for everything and pay it off every month. If you can pay it with a Visa, we use it for that. Some bills you can pay with it, but some companies will not let you use credit to pay. If I could figure out how to pay my mortgage with it, without extra fees, I would! My mortgage company doesn't allow payments with a credit card without paying an extra fee.

Re: Disney Visa

Wow thanks for all the help.

For the 5x the rewards we charged our airfare, our whole disney vacation for this Sept and I just paid it in full tonight a week early. My AAA agent kept trying to con me into not putting the vacation on my card. Then when that did not work she tried not to charge it in full? Anyone know whats up with travel agents? I want the rewards now for my trip to use on my Sept 2008 trip. They must get something for trying to not let you do it. I purchased the insurance for $49.99 a person the kids were free so it paid to pay it now seeing we had saved for our trip and got the free dining. The agent was so angry I told her we would not use her again. Now she is kissing our a**.

I am going to ask my credit union if they charge a fee for taking a credit card for our house payment. I am contacting the cable and electric tomorrow!

Thanks a ton this helped alot more then you all will ever know! People are so nice here. Why can you not all move to Rochester NY you would all make it a better place to live.

I always charge my vacations on the Disney Visa and I use the points on that vacation. No need to wait, if it's paid plenty ahead, that is.

We charge the entire household on that card. But never anything I couldn't pay off when the bill comes. It wouldn't make sense to get 1 point per $100 spent if you have to pay interest on a balance
