Re: Crowne Plaza
I have never stayed there but from what I have seen of it, it seems pretty nice, you could always check out the website and get info on it. But just to let ya know, there are many hotels that are nice and right by DLR. Have fun on your trip. :-) :-)

Re: Crowne Plaza
Hi cav!
The Crowne Plaza is a little further away than I would consider preferable. It's several blocks down...several pretty big blocks. If you were planning on walking to DLR, this would not be a good resort choice. But if you are planning on driving, it's a great hop-and-a-skip of a drive! I have heard both good and bad things about this particular hotel. The price is usually right, but I've also heard that it doesn't really live up to the standards of other Crowne Plazas. (This seems to be true of a lot of chain hotels in the Anaheim area. It's like they scrimped just so they could get their hotel up fast enough to compete with other DLR area hotels!) If you are looking to stay in the general price range of the Crowne Plaza, you may want to check into some of the hotels that are right in the same block area as DLR...for example, the Desert Palm Inn & Suites. It's a 3-diamond hotel with very competitive rates similar to the Crown Plaza and excellent accommodations. Some of their suites even have views of Disney's California Adventure! Plus it's a very short walk to the front entrance plaza. Good luck picking your hotel and feel free to ask anymore questions!

Re: Crowne Plaza
AHH yes! The Desert Inn & Suites! Now that is a pretty good hotel and is very close, I would recommend staying there instead of the Crowne Plaza, its alot closer, about the same price, and from what I have heard is a bit nicer. (thanks for mentioning this dznygrl!) :-)

Re: Crowne Plaza
Actually, dznygrl mentioned the Desert PALM inn & suites, while Desert INN is closer, it is not nearly as nice or accomodating. The front desk clerk was very unfriendly when we went to check rates once, as opposed to the front desk clerk at the Desert Palm was friendly enough to upgrade our room for free...They also have a few rooms with DCA views! My 2 cents...
FYI: We paid $65/night at Desert Palm and had a free room upgrade.

Re: Crowne Plaza
We stayed beside the Marriott near the Crown-ster, and while we stood at the bus-stop, we would talk to people who stayed there. Most of them were pleased. I would suggest the Marriott Suites Garden Grove, which is right next to it. Read my other thread in this section (Marriott Suites (GARDEN GROVE)). Have A Disney Day!!!

Re: Crowne Plaza
cav, I thought I would post this just so you could see: this is the suite at Desert Palm we ended up paying only $65/night for. It had 2 queens, a microwave & refrigerator, a big bathroom, 2 TVs and a nice sunken living room. (It's kind of a bad picture, sorry.)
I think this suite normally runs about $129/night or more, but we got upgraded for free because the room we originally paid for (a king suite) smelled like fresh paint...gave me a headache... ![]() All of the rooms at DP are recently remodeled, and very nice!! The hotel's recent overhaul made a big difference...it's really beautiful! Even our King Suite was comparable in size to this suite, with a seperate living room (just not sunken.)
