Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
I was just wondering if anyone had stayed here during their travels in California, because my family and I were thinking of staying there.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
I have stayed at the Candy Cane Inn (even before they refurbished it) and it is a GREAT hotel!
Their continental breakfast was much more expansive than most, the pool area is beautiful, and the rooms were good-sized and very comfortable. They have great amenities and a fantastic location overall. If I can't afford to stay at a Disney hotel, this is my second choice. I haven't been there since they refurbished it, so I imagine it's even better now! The walk to the front of DLR is very quick and painless, too, which you will appreciate at the end of the day!I can't recommend CCI enough!

It's been several years, but I remember being very happy with it- and I couldn't believe the price for such an incredible location.
It's surprisingly nice for a place with such a tacky name. Andrea

YES!!! And it was a great stay. My wife and I plus our two teenage sons stayed at the CCI for 6 nights in late March. We chose the premium room and were sure glad we did. Having the expanded continental breakfast delivered to the room each morning was great. It arrived in a wicker picnic basket at our chosen time with our choice of bagels, muffins, cereals, milk and juices! That was great. We really liked that. There were times when we went out for a hot breakfast but a bagel and juice to start out the day was always welcome. What was leftover was kept in the fridge(very nice) for later snacks and such. The hotel itself was great...right next door to the Disney parks with a shuttle that came and went every half hour. The pool was a bit on the small side but who cares! It was always kept immaculate and we all enjoyed it. The Candy Cane was an excellent choice for my family and we would definately stay there again. Highly recommended...!!!

WE loved the Candy Cane Inn. The name kinda makes you take a second look. We would stay there anytime. It is walking distance from the park. 2 tumbs up

I've stayed there 4 times now, in may will be my 5th. It was a great hotel and now that they have refurbished it it's even more amazing! Greatprice, amazing location, about a 10 min. walk but even nicer is the freeshuttle leaving every 30 mins! The continental breakfast is far superior to any other hotel around, served poolside it has 6 different cold cereals, fruit, bagels, muffins, croissants, coffee, tea, juice, and more! And they keep replenishing it so even if you are at the tail end of the breakfast time you'll still have all the choices as the early risers. ooh! also, new with the referbishments are beautiul feather duvets and feather pillows that are luxury hotel quality for economy hotel price! If you have to stay off property there is no other choice.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
I am in total agreement with everyone. CCI is great. We have stayed there 3 times in the last 3 yrs.. We usually split our time between the DLH and the CCI. Exceptional staff, breakfast buffet, rooms (with coffee maker & refrigerator). Convenient little markets right next door, with everything you might need. Subway + other eateries right across the street. The shuttle drivers are wonderful and very considerate. All of the staff members go out of their way to make your stay great. Our next trip is planned for 6/1 to 6/3 @ DLH & 6/3 to 6/7 @ the CCI. Can't wait. The CCI feels much more like a quaint Boutique hotel rather than a runof the mill Motel. Stay there, you won't be sorry.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
If you are staying off-property at Disneyland, and need a standard hotel, this is the place to stay. It is comparably priced to the other stuff around it, but much nicer, and a bit of an easier walk, since you don't have to cross any streets. Also, since the ToT has been built, you can now see (and hear) it from the pool area. Honestly, you can't make a better choice, unless you stay at the DL or Grand Californian.

Thanks to all the great replies to my DS's (Mr. Maleficent) post we just booked our DL trip at the CCI.
We'll be there 7/9-7/14 and we can't wait ...anyone else going at that time? Mickey...that's so cool about the ToT being so close as that's one of our favs from MGM.Danny

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
Rick...Thanks for the tip about Mimi's Cafe. My wife heard about it through one of the tour books and had it down on our list of places to eat. When did you stay at CCI? Any other great tips?
Danny

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
Danny...We stayed at the Candy Cane from March 19th through the 25th of this year, just a few weeks ago. As I've said before, we had a wonderful stay. Very comfortable hotel with some nice features as well. The complimentary continental breakfast was a real plus for us. Take advantage of that as it will save you some $$$ each morning. I also think the hotel's location is second to none. You're located on the same side of the street, just next door to the main Disney entrance. We have 2 boys who were old enough to go back and forth a few times on their own which they enjoyed. The whole area is loaded with places to eat from "sit down establishments" to "fast food" galore. The only place to avoid, in my opinion is "Captain Kidd's"...our only real dining mistake. LOUSY...to say the least. All in all, the food in the area eateries is fine, we just kinda favored Mimi's. Great food and service...consistantly. I, in planning our trip and getting a feel for the area, used "tripadvisor.com" quite a bit along with this site. Both sites provided a wealth of information. Best of luck and again, have a wonderful time, as I know you will. Let us know how it all went...we'll be waiting to hear!
Also, having a car available to you is a BIG help...whether your own or a rental...we rented from Hertz, just around the corner on Ketella, great service if you need to rent!Last edited by RickL.; 04-12-2005 at 03:11 PM. |

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Candy Cane Inn?
We've stayed at Candy Cane Inn MANY more times than I can count (too bad they don't give discounts for guests who stay there many times per year). Great service, nice rooms, clean, close, friendly! We love it! There are 5 in our family, so we prefer the deluxe queen rooms over the standard queen rooms (plenty of room for 5 in the standard, but more elbow room in the deluxe). We've stayed upstairs, downstairs, front of the hotel, back of the hotel... haven't found an undesirable location yet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
