Favorite Place to Stay Off Property

It is Disneyland and although it would be most magical to stay on property there are so many hotels along Harbor and Katella that make the magic in the park much more affordable. What is your favorite place to stay off property?

We have stayed the last few years at the Park Vue Inn - SOOO close to the parks!

Candy Cane Inn. We did not like the Park Vue Inn when we stayed there. I've heard it has since been fixed up, but we moved to a different hotel. The Portofino was also very nice. They have separate kid's rooms.

Re: Favorite Place to Stay Off Property

I usually stay at the Anaheim Plaza Inn and Suites (1700 Harbor ... about a 7 minute walk to the park gates). Rooms are good size, staff has always been friendly, and prices vary between 50 - 70 a night. Sure the motel is one of the older ones, and it shows it's age ... but for the price and location .. it's a great place to crash while the parks are closed.

Re: Favorite Place to Stay Off Property

Our favorite hotel to stay at off site is the Anabella. About 5 years ago it was priced between $79-$89 a night. The rooms are very nice with granite bathrooms and nicely decorated bedroom furniture. The pool is always clean and heated and there is a great spa that's kept HOT, unlike some other area hot tubs. I think the hotel realized that they were more than a two star and now they have upped the price to $129-$249 a night. Sometimes, depending on the season you can still find it for $79 if you're lucky!! It's next to Cocos restaurant and we love to grab breakfast there before hitting the parks. It used to be $2.50 for eggs, muffin and juice but it also has raised it's prices in the last few years. It's still really good food and great service.

Re: Favorite Place to Stay Off Property

It was 2 years ago, but my niece & I stayed at the Holiday Inn which is right next door to the Disneyland parking garage. Too bad we could not enter it from the hotel parking lot! But if you walked all the way around the parking garage (8-10 minutes) you could board the tram, which was then only a minute or two from the park entrances. I can't think of the name of the street it was on, I think it may have been Walnut St. It was connected in an odd way with another Holiday Inn that fronted on a main street...both hotels' back-ends were adjacent to each other. Both properties shared the outdoor pool, which was the only drawback. The pool was very crowded, and much too small to be serving 2 hotels. With any luck, they will correct this. The hotel had very nice public areas, a sit-down restaurant, and was on the trolley line, with a stop right outside. I remember getting a price of about $79/night for a double, in mid-April. Hope this helps!

Pam

I've stayed at the Anabella, and it really was a nice hotel. It did seem like an awfully long walk home at night, though we did get to stroll through the Grand Californian on the way..

The Holiday Inn was extremely convenient, and within easy walking distance to the trams.

All in all, I still like the Hyatt. For the most part, consistently the most comfortable beds and helpful staff. I have listed all the hotels that I have stayed at for the past six years, and none have been bad. But the Hyatt stands out as the best. (though the Anabella does come a close second)

Re: Favorite Place to Stay Off Property

We stayed at the Best Western Stovall's in 2005 and were not overly impressed. I'm intererested in this thread, too, since we'd like to go back over Thanksgiving this year for DH's birthday. We're thinking the Disney resorts will be too expensive for our limited budget this trip.

No. Stovall's is at the southwest corner of Katella and West St/Disneyland Drive. Unless they've torn them up, the hotel has long been known for its weird topiary along West St. The Park Place Inn is on Harbor Blvd.

Hope that helps.
