Icon5 Need advice- Seaworld San Diego Hotel

Hi all...
Once again I turn to the DCer'sfor advice!
My DD(9) and I are having a "girls only" trip to DL then down the coast - destination Sea World. We are going in early May and have never been to San Diego. My dilemma is finding a good hotel!
I have looked on at hotels on the ocean-Catamaran/ Bahai-
really expensive- are any worth the price?
Any thoughts on specifcs area to look for a hotel in?
My only criteria is:
Close
Clean
Affordable - (close to or under 100/night would be great!)
We do not NEED spa/resort services But if there is an awesome resort that happens to have it that is ok.
I would prefer a tropical feeling hotel and pool area if it is not actually on the ocean.

DD has never seen the ocean so please send thoughts on scuba/snorkel activities w/kids or a great shell beach. She LOVES animals and aquatics so any must see tourist or non-tourist activities would be awesome! Is Belmont Park a must see?
Ok, I'll stop with the questions and just wait for responses!
Thanks once again everyone!
~Zoey

Hi! I love Belmont Park! We actually haven't been there since they totally redid the whole thing but we did love it. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Mission Bay, it was clean and just okay. I know there is a Residence Inn By Marriott that's really nice, I have no clue on the price. If you check on www.getawaytoday.com they have some pretty good deals, with tickets. I love SanDiego, it's so pretty and the weather is great!

We've stayed at the Hyatt Regency Islandia before - very nice, and we got it for something around $115 a night. It is directly next door to Seaworld.

Re: Need advice- Seaworld San Diego Hotel

I have family in San Diego, so whenever I go to Sea World we just stay with them. I'm not much for Hotels then
But Sea World ROCKS! (for a non-Disney park) haha
I loved the 3D show, it even has effects like getting you wet and so forth, fun times!
The only other things I've done in San Diego are the San Diego Zoo and just going to tons of beaches with my family, but anything you do there will be great, I just LOVE this city. If it were just a *bit* closer to Disneyland I would love to live there.
Have fun!

Thanks for the info !
Princess Tessa-
Any thoughts on a good Shell beach or a good beach that we could swim a bit, see fish and other aquatics?
