Just Totally Excited.....

I'm going to Disneyland for the "First" time in December. Why I say "first" is because I went as a child but really don't remember going. Totally pumped, I'm only going for three days with my boyfriend, who is a Disneyland freak (he grew up in Arizona). What should I be prepared for? I'm SO EXCITED!

Do you get any type of discount, Natalie? I have never been to DL, so I don't have any suggestions other than "have a great time!"

Be prepared for it to be a bit nippy compared to FL, so bring a sweater, lol. Or better yet, forget it and buy yourself a sweatshirt there.

Where are you staying? Will you be there over a weekend?

Arriving early at the parks should be a breeze since you'll be on FL time. You can very easily go from Disneyland to California Adventure and back again, so no need to plan one day here, one day there. DTD is much smaller then the one at WDW, and it's right there with the two parks and 3 hotels.

DLR is built off a busy freeway and busy surface streets. The 'resort' atmosphere WDW has is not the same at DL. You certainly do not notice it in the park, but be prepared that you are in the middle of a city with motels, hotels, traffic, restaurants, etc.

We do get discounts over there! My boyfriend is a CM also, so we get in free, discounts on all dining, and merchandise (which will be a big one, b/c I'll probably want to buy everything in sight). Thats why we decided to go now, we weren't totally sure we'd be able to do it so cheaply ever again.

We're staying somewhere across the street (I don't really know the details, Andy booked it) and I'm having my friend (who is in CA for 2 weeks right now) check out where it's at and give me a full report! I think it's a Best Western? We couldn't get in to the Disney Hotels and even if we could, our discount isn't that good out there.

Yay! So excited!

As Daisyd said, it's COLD in December, but it's so much fun. It sounds like you'll be having a great time!

Oh! How fun!!

I've never been to DL, but one thing I've noticed in pictures/TRs is that it seems so much more detailed than WDW...I bet you'll be blown away by the small things like details in decorating.

Thanks for the advice to go to Tripadvisor! I went there and almost everyone loved the hotel we stayed at (you know, one or two bad eggs out of the bunch), so that makes me feel much better!

We're almost down to a month now.....and thank gosh it will be a busy month at WDW so I don't have to focus on the fact that time is moving *so slowly!*

How exciting!! I've never been to DL (which will change as soon as we're settled in Nevada and within just a few hours of it) but I bet you'll just have a BLAST!

i've never been to DL either... but i am really excited for you. kinda have me thinkin' now.... maybe i should venture out west, hmmmm, would probably be good for a shorter trip.

Have to say I'm down to a little over two weeks. Getting extremely excited to go. Luckily I'll be busy in the next two weeks, getting packed, and well, this weekend we'll be purchasing a Nintendo Wii for my bf's birthday, so that will keep me entertained for quite awhile! Yay! 16 more days to go!

You are going to have FUN! The weather this time of year is great. It isn't too hot or cold. It is one of my favorite times to go as the park is all decorated for Christmas. Go to the Blue Bayeu (sp?). The restaurant inside Pirates. It is too cool.
