Legoland--has anyone been?

Last night we saw a Legoland commercial and my DH turned to me and asked what I knew about it, and really it's not much. I think I went the first year it was open (2nd maybe), so a lot has changed. Do any MBers have any recent (last 5 years, lol) experience? Did you like it? What about your kids, did they like it? Would you go again?

Any help is appreciated

Do you mean a Legoland park? I've been to 2 of the parks and they are awesome.

Re: Legoland--has anyone been?

8 years ago my two kids, myself, my mother and my cousin went to the UK for 2 weeks. One of the things my kids wanted to do was go to Legoland which is located near Windsor Castle. My cousin was all for it, however, my mother looked down her nose and said "I'm not going, so have a good time". Well, her 2 grandkids guilted her into it. So off we go to the Green Line to get the bus to Legoland. It was the day that there was a total eclipse of the sun, which we got to see through the glass roof of the bus station. So cool that one!! We arrive at Legoland (at that point in the pouring rain) and right there as you go in were Darth Vader and R2D2, made COMPLETELY out of Legos, and set up so you could have your picture taken with them - complete with a light saber for Darth Vader - yep - made out of legos. The rest of Legoland was an adorable 2-car train ride down a rather steep hill. And it is spectacular. To give you an idea, they had miniature icons such as Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Sacre C'ouer, etc. And the way they had them displayed - incredible. Little villages. They even had a working soccer stadium!! If a part had movement, it moved. Little trains that went around the tracks as well. Photo ops up the ying-yang. They were amazing. Activities for kids? Lots. They also had rides, and places to eat. So what about my mother who looked down her nose at the whole adventure? She CLOSED the place!!! She was looking at all the icons and taking pictures and ooohing and aaahing that we almost missed the last train up the hill. AND, get this, she even bought a Legoland poncho that she still wears!!! So, I hope you seriously consider going, because it really is amazing. P.S. - icon isn't the word I was looking for but I'm having a menapausal moment. The word will come back to me - maybe next week.

Re: Legoland--has anyone been?

I used to live really close by the original Legoland. And we took the ferry quite often from Germany to Denmark to go there among other places.

I think it is fun and not at all a waste of time. Your kids would love it.

Re: Legoland--has anyone been?

I really enjoyed both of the Legoland parks that I've visited. The first one I got to see was in Denmark. I didn't think I'd enjoy it....even made snide remarks about it. Yep...I LOVED IT! The things they can make with Legos is amazing:) I have visited the one here in Southern California and it is just as amazing. The rides are def. more for little kids but can still be fun.

Re: Legoland--has anyone been?

I do believe our neighbors to the North (Llamaland) have a Legoland. I would love to go. Sounds like something my boys would really enjoy.

Just make sure nobody goes barefoot, because stepping on Legos REALLY HURTS!
