Need help packing for DL vacation
Hi all, I'm about to start packing for our first ever DL vacation. We'll be there from June 10-14. What are the day & night temps for that time of the year? Neither of us have ever been to Cali so I'm not sure if I should pack the tanks & shorts only or if a few pairs of jeans & sweat shirts should be thrown in the bags too. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
We were in Cali at that exact time last year. We started out in Sacramento Ca. and temps were kind of chilly in morning and again in evening. We wore light jackets. Temps were in mid - low 60's. As we drove along the coast. The closer we got to the ocean, the cooler the days were. When we finally made it to Anaheim (DL) the day temps were in the high 80's. The evenings cool off though. We were in CA for 2 weeks and thankfully I had packed everyone jeans and jackets as well as bathing suits and shorts. You kind of need it all out there.

Yep, what she said! Right now we are experience May gray By the beach it hasn't made it out of the 60's ..evenings def. require at least a light jacket our sweatshirt. It's been in the mid 70's in Anaheim. Of course the weather is pretty unpredictable....by the end of this week it may be in the low 80's. So..I guess it's just best to be prepared. Bring a couple pair of jeans and a jacket....layer is a good word! Don't omit the swim suits though...it can turn warm pretty quickly!

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
Hey there neighbor!! We go in late June and even then it can be a TAD chilly in the evening, especially when swimming, and early in the morning. I'll be honest, I brought mostly the same type of clothes I would if I was going to WDW and was fine. One thing I did notice, some restaurants in the resorts and even in DTD I noticed people tend to dress a tad nicer than you'd see in WDW. More like resort casual clothes instead of t's, jean shorts, and flipflops. Just something I noticed. You'll be fine though by 11am it can be scourching hot, last year was pretty brutal in the afternoon.
PS: I see you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel! You are going to LOVE IT! I stayed there last June for the first time and it was great. The pool is THE BEST (make sure you notice the Tink at the bottom of the pool after closing), and they have a nice little quick service cafe by the pool that we bought little breakfast items in every morning. Make sure you take time to look at all the vintage photos of Walt & the park that line the hallways off the lobby!

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
Be prepared for cooler and warmer weather...there usually aren't big extremes, but it can change without warning.
In Oregon they say, "If you don't like the weather - wait 5 minutes!" I think that holds true somewhat for California too. ![]()

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
It will be warm/hot during the days! No need to candy coat it! But take a jacket for mornings and evenings. In the summer you can get a high fog deck that will put a chill in the air.

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
That time period is known for "June gloom" - with low, drizzly fog well into late morning and coming back mid to late afternoon. But it lasts for a few days, then the summer heat starts kicking in, so it could go either way. I would say be prepared to layer, with at least a light sweatshirt and long pants for evenings.

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
Thanks all, I'll try to squeeze in a pair of jeans & a sweatshirt into my already overpacked luggage.
I was really hoping it wouldn't be cold and I'm thrilled to see it won't be. We're going to Hawaii first and then stopping over at DLR for a few days before heading home and I really really didn't want to pack ALL of my clothing. Well, I'm off to repack my things again. ![]()

). Jeans might be a bit warmer, but no need to haul them all that way 'just in case'--I have been a bit chilly at night in capris, in August no less, but I lived . Now if you're horsebackriding in Hawaii, those jeans will come in handy there as well and it might be worth the 6k mile haul from NJ, lol.Your honeymoon sounds wonderful Look how close you are! Your countdown is getting so small!

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
I would say a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt would do in case you hang out til' midnight or so.
Most of the evenings won't go below high seventies until late.

Re: Need help packing for DL vacation
I like the capri idea because they're so much lighter to pack than jeans and I got to thinking that leaving behind a sweater or jacket will give me more reason to have to buy another sweatshirt at WOD
The panic button has been hit and yes my bags have been packed and repacked about a katrillion times already. I'm guessing three more repacks and I'll be ready. Four days left to grab the bags and run to the airport. I'm absolutely thrilled to finally have the chance to visit the place that started it all. And, anyone who can fit into a carry-on and in the storage compartment in the plane cabin is free to tag along. We'd love the company. ![]()
