need help from anyone who has been to DLR

After reading dznygrl's TR to WDW, comparing to DLR, I would love to try DL sometime.

When I go to WDW we've stayed at AS Sports and POP. There were just fine as we don't spend much time at the hotel.

On looking at DLR it doesn't look like they have a value, you stay "off resort"

I would not like to stay off resort at WDW, because of the buses - we don't rent a car.

DL page is also showing a special 5 days for the price of 3 right now thru April. Can someone who is familiar with DL figure out a "cheap package" for me if we decided to make a trip...

At least I would have advice of what to do/what not to do.

I can always dream anyways, right?

One should always take the opportunity to go to Disneyland..

There are three onsite hotels, the Grand Californian, The Disneyland Hotel, and the Paradise Pier. None are exceptionally cheap..

The best thing about Disneyland is that Anaheim has a lot of hotels..

I have been a premium annual passholder since 2003. And I live 5,000 miles away.

To do a package, buy a three or four day pass online. For a hotel,
I try to use Priceline to get a nice hotel for the least amount of money. On the average, I've stayed at the Hyatt, Hilton or Marriot for around $50.00 a night.

If you rent a car, you can easily afford to stay in a city outside of Anaheim, thereby getting "free parking" along with your hotel room. If you don't want to rent a car, there is a trolley that takes you to your hotel, if it's not within walking distance. See Voldemort's and my trip reports. This was the first time I went to Disneyland without a car. It wasn't completely inconvenient. In fact, it's probably the same as the bus situation at WDW.

If you have any other questions, ask away..

Our FAVOURITE good neighbour hotel in DLR is and always will be The Candy Cane Inn
It is absolutely beautiful! Down comforters, great continental breakfast, easy walk to the parks or if your tired feet don't want, they have a FREE shuttle to the parks every 30 mins... one of the only resorts who still have their own shuttle, which we've always REALLY appreciated.
