New attractions announced

http://www.eurodisney.com/data/198.pdf

Disneyland Paris announced that they will be adding 3 new rides and re-doing Space Mountain. Disneyland Paris will open Space Mountain: Mission 2 in 2005 and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast in 2006. The Disney Studios will be adding Toontown Studios in 2007 and the Tower of Terror in 2008. It sounds like Disneyland Paris is finally getting their act together. It's about time.

"Act together" in what respect? Disneyland Resort Paris has been the most spectacular and popular attraction in Europe since it opened. These newly-announced additions are not a new act but merely the latest scene in a constantly evolving play. As a 14 time visitor to the park in its various manifestations, I believe that the new attractions will undoubtedly be a big bonus, but those already there are far better than their older, American counterparts. The simple fact is that if the climate were like that of Florida then visitor numbers here would soar to the level required to sustain the park's costs and fewer Europeans would cross the Atlantic. Even in this respect Europe's big brother is helping out again. Perhaps global warming is really part of a plan to attract more visitors to Disneyland Resort Paris?

Re: New attractions announced

I've always wanted to visit the Paris park - not only because that would mean I was actually in PARIS!!!!!, (dream, dream, dream) but also because our close friends raved about it when they visited. The Castle there is astonishingly beautiful. You can see a model of it at "One Man's Dream" in MGM.

A toontown to the Disney Studios? Interesting....thats more of a Disneyland park land, but what ever works. And Im surprised DLP is finally going to add their TOT to their park, I thought they never would. Lets hope these new rides will boost their parks attendance.....I myself will be looking forward to seeing the look of their TOT.

Tom, here in America we have constantly heard how much of a flunk DL Paris was. Atleast I did. Glad to hear it wasn't, and that Europeans love Disney too!!!

Re: New attractions announced

They could add every state of the art ride in the known , and unknown ,Universe and I still won't travel the 100 miles from home to DLP.

A pastiche of Disney it may be but it ain't the real deal. Sorry.

Have you been there to see it for yourself, Rob? And I'd have thought it nearer 300 miles.

Re: New attractions announced

Have to be honest and admit that I'm basing my opinion on a number of friends who have visited over the past years. Each one ignoring the other friends' verdicts. As I've said before on a previous thread the cost of visiting DLP is greater over a week than travelling to Florida ( Once all the holiday costs have been taken into account ) so my preference on a number of levels is WDW or DL.

I live in London and the distance by car from our house to Paris is approx. 195 miles so we'll just have to admit that we're both wrong on that one.

OK. So we've established that you've never been there then. Fair enough. I think you'd be surprised at how good it really is. But then it depends on your own outlook and everyone's is different.

Well Viamichelin puts London to Marne La Vallee (as that's where the resort is) at 253 miles, which is certainly nearer to 300 like I said. Interestingly enough it says the distance from Calais to the park is 185 miles, which puts your house about 20 fathoms below the surface of the English Channel!

Re: New attractions announced

Do you have Shares in DLP ???

By the way I didn't check a website to calculate the mileage from home to Paris..............I merely drove there. But hey.........you'd have be an idiot to dispute anything on the internet..........because it's always right isn't it ?

I think that most would agree that this is not the Forum for your petty arguments...............so please do us all a big favour and put this to bed now.

Petty argument? Not at all. I have no argument whatsoever. I merely wanted to establish that your disparaging remarks about DLRP were made out of ignorance so that visitors to this forum wouldn't pre-judge the place based on the comments of somebody who has never even been there.
Does that put it to bed?

Re: New attractions announced

Not really.

Had you taken the time to read what I'd written ( assuming you CAN read ) you'd have understood that not many of us have the inclination to waste money on a trip that has been given such poor reviews by a number of different friends who have visited DLP at various times since it's opening.

I also wrote that the cost of a trip to DLP proved more costly for us over a 7 day period than going to WDW in Florida so wouldn't be worth it to us on that premise either.

I'm sure that DLP suits you just fine..............but then you seem to be so easily pleased.

How can one argue with such a well thought-out rationale?

Not sure that I'm willing to bring the thread down to the level of personal insult though, Robbie? That's not the way it's done here. I don't think you'll get much support for your argument that way. Nevertheless, carry on if you will. I'm all done here.

Re: New attractions announced

Thanks for the endless sarcasm......you're a real fun guy.......and , for the record, the name is not " Robbie " .

I noted that a lot of your postings are written in French so one could safely assume that you have a personal affiliation with France and for DLP too which is fine. It also explains why my comments , although made in good faith , touched a nerve with you.
I honestly don't know if you've ever visited WDW or DL. If you have then you would surely know that Disney belongs in the USA and not Europe and particularly France. I've heard countless tales of grumpy , arrogant , diffident cast members in DLP...........something very rarely witnessed or tolerated in the US resorts. I prefer the USA for all things Disney.

However I must agree with you on one issue and that is that DC is not the proper forum for your embarrassing , bullying rants. Also you picked on the wrong guy for that.

Idiot.

Now I'm finished.
