Mon Dieu!

That is taking political correctness TOO far. Actually, I'm sick to death of political correctness. Time the world started to lighten up.

Re: No Christmas tree in 2008

If Mark Twain were still alive, he would no doubt quip that the reports of the demise of the DLRP Christmas Tree were greatly exaggerated. It seems that the tree is there after all. Thank goodness for that! As for French soldiers, I suggest you read up on a guy called the Marquis De Lafayette. He was a French soldier.

I'm glad the rumour proved false!

Re: No Christmas tree in 2008

I guess I am happy for the Christmas tree
being up for all you folks over there enjoy
it As for the rest of this story I
excused myself once I pretty much
did so for you TowncarT But that
will be the last time I do so. I thank you for
your opinion on what should be on my reading
list, but I will pass. I am sure that the English,
French or just about any of the other folks in
that part of the world have a grude joke or
two about us Americans. Enjoy your Holidays.

Re: No Christmas tree in 2008

Well, that is good news!

I can't grasp that anyone can't enjoy the beauty of a decorated tree, no matter what they believe.

Ah - we owe alot to dear Prince Albert, Tom.

Good heavens! Wouldn't that be a terribly painful way to celebrate Christmas? I mean, after all, I've never even had my ears done, and --

... oh! OH!! Right! Yes! Of course! The... history of... the tree. Right! Of course I knew all the time!

As Emily Litella so often said, "never mind."

Re: No Christmas tree in 2008

Yeah, I was assuming this was a rumor too. My best friend is temporarily living in Belgium & was in France last week. She knows how Disney obsessed I am and she said "Oh Jess, you'd love all the adverts here showing Disneyland Paris with the holiday stuff." So I am assuming she saw some evidence of Christmas there.

Christmas trees everywhere in Disney but the ones outside Disneyland park like at Disney village do not have any lights on them and look very sad. Also there are some Christmas shows in the park.

Christmas was not as good here as in Florida last year. the French just don't get the Disney gig.

No lights?? Maybe they're still trying to untangle them.
