Re: Disneyland Paris Here I Come!

I am booked!!!!!

We booked our flights, hotel in Paris, Train to Belgium, and Disneyland Paris pacakge

We managed to squeeze out an extra night in both Paris and Disneyland Paris, but will spend 1 night only in Brussels with family, so our trip is now going to be 4 nights in Paris central, 1 night in Brussels, and 3 nights in the Sequoia Lodge at Disneyland Paris.

We took Tom's advice and booked a Montana room at the Sequoia so we could stay in the main building. And we booked the Bateaux Parisiens evening cruise on the Seine he suggested as well for a nice anniversary treat.

And I know this was meant to be - b/c we just did our tax returns and they are almost paying for the entire trip! Fate I tell ya.

Now it feels real -and the waiting begins!

Re: Disneyland Paris Here I Come!

lol - ok now I am staying overseas one more night :-)
My family in Belgium is over the moon about us coming, so we are now staying one day longer since they want us to stay for 3 days. This is due to the fact that some of my family from Sicily is going to be joining us, kinda like a mini reunion :-) My parents are even considering going to Belgium for the same time now so they can also be there for the reunion!

So the trip is now 4 nights/5 days in Paris, 2 nights/3 days in Brussels, and 3 nights/4 days in Disneyland Paris (well, 3 days more like it b/c we are traveling on the last day). I changed my flights today to leave one day earlier. I also changed my hotel dates in Paris. Its actually saving us a bit of money since the Paris hotel is cheaper with the new dates.

We will now be flying out evening May 12, arriving morning May 13 and leaving afternoon May 22.

I am so excited for this trip. DH thinks I'm crazy b/c I am most excited about DLRP, but I can't help it, its a dream of mine to visit all the Disney parks someday.

Some part of me is secretly upset I won't get my Disney World fix - lol. I didn't get to go to Typhoon Lagoon in Jan because it was too cold! lol

Oh well. We may go to Vegas in September with my parents and I'm hoping to squeeze in DLR somehow too. They just don't know it yet!

The obsession is getting worse! Once a year is no longer enough! Help me!

Re: Disneyland Paris Here I Come!

I really am feeling a "Wish in the making" here, I feel guilty somehow that you seem to be like mirroring my obsession. It is ALSO my dream to visit every single Disney park in the world one day & OBVIOUSLY I have the same problem that "once a year is no longer enough."

I am upset that I won't be visiting my best friend in Gent, Belgium this year 'cause it's SO easy to swing over to DLP.... I'll just have to live through you.

How is it even POSSIBLE that I've been in France twice, Belgium once, etc.. and STILL have NEVER BEEN TO DISNEYLAND PARIS?!?!

I did a cruise on the Seine also & it was really surreal. I know this sounds cliche but just passing by Notre Dame was surreal enough for me, like you couldn't even believe it was right there. I remember passing under really old looking gothic bridges that were just awesome and when we got further away from the main city area I remember seeing castle ruins that were gorgeous & other interesting stuff. It was a cool experience.

You're right, I am becoming you! lol
People like us always find a way to make these trips happen don't we?

I totally think I will feel that disbelief about seeing those famous Paris sights up close. When I was in France last June for work I was sad I wouldn't get to see DLRP or these cool sights, so I'm excited about that. And about DH's first taste of Europe :-)

Now how in the world am I going to convince DH that our next overseas destination should be to Tokyo Disney? lol

Re: Disneyland Paris Here I Come!

MickFiz, your plans sound AMAZING!!!!!!! I went to Paris in my Junior year in High School...when I was pretty fluent in French! I haven't used it in 18 years, so it's totally gone. But it certainly sounds like the trip of a lifetime for you guys!!!!!

I did a nighttime cruise on the Seine and it was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!! We shared our boat with some smelly guys from Italy. We had a great time!

Good luck with your plans! I can't wait to hear from you about DLP! I'll get there one of these years....

OH MY GOSH, that is my ABSOLUTE dream! I am DYING to go there. Maybe we should plan a trip in the next couple years during the same time so at least we'd have each other & the four of us could feel "not so foreign together." I am nervous it's going to be overwhelming. It would be AWESOME to have another couple there to experience Tokyo Disney together.

Yeah! That would be wicked! We should actually seriously discuss this!

Re: Disneyland Paris Here I Come!

Oh no! I wast just on the Disneyland Paris site and Space Mountain Mission 2 is going to be closed only for the 2 days I am there! May 20th - 22nd.

I'm sad, I was really looking forward to doing this ride :-(

Oh well, everything else will still be great, there are no other closures during my stay.

Hey, no worries. Just another reason to plan another trip in the future! DVC points will help!

That is a bummer because Space Mountain is a whirlwind of a ride and puts its WDW namesake to shame. It is not for the faint-hearted and has several inversions, loud music and is mostly ridden at breakneck speed in total darkness. A real blast!

Still, on the plus side you will get to ride the new Tower of Terror before I do. That's worth the admission price all on its own!! Enjoy!!

Re: Disneyland Paris Here I Come!

My gosh, it is almost here!
28 days left until the big trip!

I'm so unorganized, I've barely had time to think about this trip.
We talked about it yesterday and decided on doing a side-trip to Versailles on one of our Paris days - DH wants to eat at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurant.

I can't believe how fast this snuck up on me!
I am going to call this week to make an ADR at the Blue Lagoon for our official anniversary dinner.

Versailles and Blue Lagoon are great choices! Don't know anything about the Gordon Ramsey restaurant, and wouldn't go if I did, but Versailles is magnificent. It is easily reachable by train (we were in the car when we visited a few years ago) but you should try to get there early. You could very easily spend a whole day visiting Versailles and still not get around it all. The weather should be perfect for strolling around the gardens. When we went it was scorching and we got pretty sunburned as I recall. We also got lost trying to find our way back to the motorway en route to Orleans.

I've never booked in advance for a DLRP restaurant, so I'm not sure if Blue Lagoon even accepts ADR's. I suppose it must. You'll soon find out!

The dinner cruise will be spectacular and will give you some of your best memories of the trip. Make sure you have your camera/video camera with you.

If you want any more info just PM me. T
