Yes, I did make a reservation somewhere else, but as long as I cancel 24 hours prior to check in I won't be charged. So I will call every once in a while and see if it's available, maybe even every day!

You might want to check sites like cheaptickets.com, expedia.com, etc. I have booked great rates at the GC through these sites in the past.

Good luck pumouse! The DL hotels ALWAYS seem to be booked... We tried to get a room at one of them in the dead of February 2004, and they were booked solid!

I hope you get to stay at the Grand Californian...I LOVE that hotel! I would do anything to stay there!!

Does anyone besides me think that they should add another resort at DL?? The popularity of them just keeps growing, and it seems really difficult to get a room! I guarantee if they put something in slightly cheaper than PP, it would be packed all the time. Yeah, they have a lot of competition in the area, but who wouldn't want to stay at a Disney resort for just a teensy bit more than an offsite one?

Right now the difference in offsite vs. on is just too big of a difference for me...at least at DL. My pocketbook particularly likes paying $49/night at Red Roof Inn Anaheim.

Really you have stayed at all of them? I stayed at the Paradise Pier once, we usually stay at one of the suites somewhere in the area like the staybridge suites or residence inn. What one did you like the best?

Hey..sorry I was really busy yesterday and the first part of today.
Of course my answer to your question is not simple...I like them all for very different reasons. I like Disneyland Hotel because it is THE original...just like Disneyland. The pool has a great theme and there are lots of dining options here too and some shops to look around in. The little girl in me really likes the "special" wallpaper in the rooms here. I like Paradise Pier because it is low key and quieter than the other two. The pool isn't very exciting though. We really enjoy the Japanese restaurant here and we used to really enjoy the other rest. there(can't remember its name right now). We used to get a kick out of the special PP guest entrance to DCA, but they have closed that entrance:( The biggest advantage to the PPH is that it is the least expensive option. Now...The Grand Californian is....beautiful! We really loved our stays at this wonderful hotel. Good restaurants, private entrance to DCA, neat pool(not as neat as some in WDW, but it does have a slide), great location in the middle of DTD.

Of course I am just scratching the surface on all three of them, but I don't want to drag on forever;) If money was no object I would probably pick Grand Californian, but my heart is always drawn to the Disneyland Hotel. :)

For all the years I've been going to DL, I always lived within driving distance. However, we're planning a trip in 2006 (on my dad's dime! whoo-hoo!) and he really wants to stay on property. GC is out, but as much detail about the DLH and PP would really be appreciated! Especially comparisons to non-Disney hotels.

Of the 2, I would choose DLH every time. It is closer to DTD and the parks and the rooms are magical. The wallpaper border is Tink followed by a trail of pixie dust which glows in the dark. Your lights at the sink are held by big Mickey hands, and your entertainment center has a map of DL on it!!! I haven't stayed at PP, but have stayed at DLH and GC. While my first choice would be the GC, I love the DLH!

That does sound magical! I would love to stay there.
