DL hotel. "Standard View?"

We were starting to price out a three-night package in DL as part of our possible trip to California this June. comparing all the resorts, the price seemed to be right for us at the Disneyland Hotel with a 3-day park hopper. Although, this is for a "standard view" at the Disneyland Hotel. What is this view like, has anyone stayed there? Do you "have to" get a pool/resort view to really enjoy it. If we stay at PP we could afford the nicer view but I heard it's kinda "ehhhh" and have been warned to stay at either disneyland hotel or GC.

Thank you!

Re: DL hotel. "Standard View?"

We had a standard view Serria Bldg. Very nice overlooked pool.

Re: DL hotel. "Standard View?"

I would take Standard View at the DLH over any view at PP. Just my personal preference.

I haven't stayed at either one, but I have checked out both of them and PP is...like you said...a little "ehhhh". I'd rather look at a rooftop or a parking lot at DLH than look at the PP's pool. (Which isn't much of a pool anyway! LOL)

I don't think you could have a very bad view at the Disneyland Hotel, especially if you try and request a room on one of the higher floors. Everything probably looks pretty good the higher up you get!

Oh, but just so you don't think I'm a total Paradise Pier hater...I would stay at ANY Disney hotel if I could! So if you get right down to it and can only afford PP, I would still say go for it.

(Hey, I worked on Paradise Pier, so I can't totally hate the hotel that's named for it, right?)

Re: DL hotel. "Standard View?"

I think there's two views - standard (overlooks the pool) and Downtown Disney View.

Keep in mind that Downtown Disney is open until 2 am and it can get very LOUD at night, and if you have little kids, that might be something to keep in mind when choosing a room at DL hotel or the GC.

Oh ok, then that's fine. I thought I'd be looking at a parking lot or the "city view" like I think Paradise Pier has, then it doesn't "feel so disney." I'd be totally fine with either pool or Downtown Disney.

Re: DL hotel. "Standard View?"

I had a Standard View at the DLH this summer. I requested the Marina Bldg. which is the main one that you check in at and that has the gift shops. Our view was of the main driveway/parking lot, but at night you could also see the fireworks and fantasmic at DL. Not too bad!

Double check because I'm not 100% sure - we've only inquired about reservations there but never stayed there.
