tell me about offsite hotels

I would like to go to DL sometime next year. Which offsite hotels are close enough to walk, good price and clean? Who has reccommendations for me?

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

We have stayed at a few across the street. The Park Place Inn and mini suites is clean and nice. And there is also a Marriott one across the street, we stayed there a few years ago and we liked it. There are many hotels in the area that offer shuttle service, we have stayed at alot of those also.

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

I have been to a couple off site hotels...

Tropicana Inn and Suites
Sadly, I was not all that happy with this place. It was nothing glaring, but it was just not quite as nice as the next hotel in almost every way...

Park Place Inn and Mini Suites
I have stayed here twice. This is pretty decent hotel. It had a little continental breakfast, so that helped save a few more dollars. The rooms were clean. My only complaint was that both times my room was way in the back, so I had a longer walk and felt a little less safe. This hotel is right across from the gate, so it is a short walk to the park.

Candy Cane Inn
I have never been here before, but I have tried to go there each of the three times I went to a hotel listed above. I have always heard nice things about this hotel and it has always been sold out even in the value season times that I go to DL.

I hope this helps you a little bit! I recommend checking in on the Candy Cane Inn...

HAVE FUN!

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

We like the Candy Cane Inn a whole lot. It's on the same side of Harbor Blvd as DL/DCA, on the same block (it's propery line is shared with DCA). It is an easy, well lit walk and they also have a free shuttle (hotel owned and operated, no sharing). It's a quiet motel (parking outside the door) with beautiful grounds and included breakfast (cereal, pastry, bagels, fruit and drinks). Very clean, nicely decorated rooms with a pretty little pool, kiddie pool and hottub area.

They offer a AAA discount if you have the membership (bring your card, they will ask to see it). It's not the least expensive place and not as close as those across the crosswalk, but a great 'what you pay and what you get' value. Very much worth the added 3-4 minute walk and extra few bucks per night.

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

How many people will be with you? Do you need just a regular room or a suite? How many beds? A refridgerator? Microwave?

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

We are a family of 5, we have done rooms made for 4 and one kid on a rollaway, and that works. Otherwise I guess we'd need a suite.

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

We always stay at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites - it's right across from the crosswalk too. We started there because we knew someone that worked there so got a discount, but stayed after she left because it's clean, cheap, and has free breakfast goodies. Plus, if you ask for room 127 (I know, I'm anal!) they charge it as a regular room but it's bigger than the other rooms that are not suites, so there would be plenty of room for a rollaway. Also that room is kind of back away from other rooms so if you have kids that tend to be noisy after an overstimulated day at the parks you don't have to worry about bothering anyone. There is a great view of the fireworks (usually, haven't seen the 50th show) from their rooftop balcony thing.

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

I haven't heard of anyone else staying there, but the Portofino Inn and Suites suited us quite nicely as a family of five. It has one of those family suites with the kids being in a separate area with their own games and TV.

They were very reasonable priced and we found the hotel to be clean and pretty. They had a free shuttle to the parks, but it was so close we chose to walk instead. It's only one block away.

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

We always stay at the Ramada Maingate. Right accross the street. It only takes about 7-20 mins to get to the lines to get into Disneyland from there. We've gone there 10 times and only had problems 1 times. They have Suites. One has two rooms a queen size bed in each room. and they have one room suite that has the adjoining room with a full size bed. It is a really nice hotel. It has 3 little gift shops outside and a little pizza and a chinese place. it is take out only. It is also really close to the tony romas (it think) Denny's and I hop. tony romas being close. Hope this is helpful.

Daisy D and Goof Father have it right. If you're not stayong onsite this is the ONLY place to go. It is totally Disney-quality from the rooms to the maids. We've stayed there 4 times now and if I'm not in a Disney resort (because of budget issues) there is no other place I would stay. The - airconditioned - FREE - private - shuttle every 30 minutes can be a god send at the end of the day with armloads of merchandise. go there go there go there!
haha, I hope Candy Cane read this, I should be there new spokewoman!
Two words. GO! THERE! haha

Re: tell me about offsite hotels

We stayed at the HoJo this past June. Nice room and we had lots of space for our stuff. We went back everyday to have a rest and eat lunch but we never got in the pool so I'm not sure how the pools were. We also could see the fireworks from DL from the hotel.
They did have a little store and the prices weren't too bad at all.
The walk wasn't too bad really..it took us about 10 minutes to get to the DL or DCA gates.
After going to WDW so many times, we just prefer a little more "Disney" in our hotel so we are staying at Disneyland Hotel next trip. For the money, HOJO was clean, quiet and an overall nice place to stay.

Gina, I think your family will love the CCI. We staying there in Nov. & were very pleased. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is good. It is close enough to walk, but a shuttle runs every 30 minutes in case you don't feel like it. The staff is wonderful. I'm sure your family will have a wonderful time!
