Fire in DL Hotel lobby?

Oh my gosh, I just saw a quick news clip that one's of DL Resort's hotel lobbys had a fire?!? It said nobody got hurt but apparantly one of the big holiday trees caught fire. From what I caught from the clip I couldn't even make out which lobby it was b/c it was so fast and so smokey. They just showed a shell of a tree.

Anyone know anything more?

Re: Fire in DL Hotel lobby?

The radio report just said "minor injuries".

Which I skeptically translate as people mentioning things "just in case".

Re: Fire in DL Hotel lobby?

That tree was the best of all of the hotel trees too!

That whole lobby area is just beautiful! I sure hope it will be cleaned up just fine and quick...

Re: Fire in DL Hotel lobby?

I saw a small clip of the lobby on the news last night. It's gonna be quite a cleanup. The clip I saw, you could see the overhead sprinkler system just pouring water down, it looked like it was raining in there... I'm sure most everything in the lobby is ruined. The news said that some workers were changing some bulbs on the tree and when they turned the tree back on the wires caught fire... I'm glad noone was hurt...

Re: Fire in DL Hotel lobby?

Wow. I would have been there, but for Hawaiian Airlines..

ANAHEIM, Calif. - A 35-foot Christmas tree caught fire early Wednesday in the lobby of the Disneyland Grand Californian Hotel, forcing the evacuation of more than 2,000 guests, officials said. No one was injured except for a guest who complained of a strained back and another with symptoms of stress, officials said.

The sprinkler system kept the 3 a.m. blaze in the artificial tree in check, and firefighters were able to quickly put it out, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department.

She called the fire "electrical in nature," saying it started after employees changed some lightbulbs on the tree and turned the lights back on.

The 745-room hotel in the center of the Disneyland Resort was at full capacity with about 2,300 guests, said Rob Doughty, the resort's vice president of communications. They were evacuated but were back in their rooms by 7 a.m., Sabol said.

Lee Crice, a guest from Phoenix, told KTLA-TV he was awakened by an alarm and saw the top of the tree was ablaze as he fled through the lobby.

Re: Fire in DL Hotel lobby?

Quick - how many Disney Land employees does it take to change a light bulb... without starting a fire?

Hahaha!!

I'm obviously dying of boredom over here...
