We just got the standard view too. Hopefully, it will be nice. I would love to have at DTD view or a park view. I wonder how much extra that would be.

We're excited about going in Oct. That's great to hear such good things about the weather at that time. We are also hoping it won't be very crowded either.

I'd think the crowds would be light. I don't know when you are goining, but fwiw, the public schools in CA don't have Columbus Day off, so there isn't a holiday that I am aware of for the local kids (that's not to say people won't come from out of state, of course).

I (think) the past two years have seen a Halloween party at DCA. I know nothing about it, but it might be something you want to research (to either go to or stay away from, lol).

It was incredibly embarrassing! We were dead tired from working overtime that week (I think it was around the holidays), and we fell asleep EVERYWHERE we went! The railroad, Pirates, the Grand Californian, the movie theater...we just hated the motel we lived in, so I guess we preferred sleeping anywhere but there!

I had a standard view the first time and it was still nice. It looked out over some parking, but that was a ways back and greenery filled most of the view. We also had the Monorail passing by on one side, which was neat too. It really wasn't bad at all!

We'll be arriving the night of 10/09 and leaving on the 15th. My brother, his wife and their three kids will be joining us.

When will you be there?
Kim, that is so funny that you guys fell asleep everywhere! There are a few rides where I can see that happening. I'd hate to fall asleep in IASW though. It might cause creepy nightmares.

Daisyd, the Halloween party is something we are very interested in doing. We've been to the one at WDW twice and always had a great time. I hope they have that going on when we get there.

You are so right! I went on IASW when I was really tired once, and I couldn't even think about falling asleep...I had visions of dolls stepping down from their posts and attacking me!

Re: Grand Californian

I also want to add that even though the staff for all of the DLR hotels have been great, it really seemed as though the staff at the GC were a full notch above the others. Kindness, friendliness, helpfulness and even some generosity was regularly evident from GC staff that my family interacted with. I may have also had the best housekeeper ever on one visit.

Re: Grand Californian

Luck you getting to stay at GC. It truly is in the midst of everything. I wish we could stay there but we're staying during peak season, so I guess I'll have to settle for the DLH.
