Disneyland Hotel, room/grounds refurbishment

In the past two years have there been any significant changes to the Disneyland Hotel? Like flat screen upgrades in the rooms, new decor, any new room amenities, etc? Or has any of the grounds of the hotel or buildings themselves changed at all in the past couple years?

When Daniel and I went this past June the only time we went over there was to eat at Goofy's Kitchen so I really didn't get to check anything out. The last time I actually STAYED at the DL Hotel was early summer 2006.

Just curious if there has been any changes at all?

ALSO, if there HAS been changes & you were hypothetically going to book a room there which building would you request with a "standard view room?"

Re: Disneyland Hotel, room/grounds refurbishment

Nope...no significant changes that I've seen..in grounds or rooms. Although, I understand they will begin refurbs in the rooms some time soon.

Hmm...standard view rooms...I think they only have those in the Magic and Wonder towers.....I believe the Magic tower is the tower that has the check in desks. If you have a standard view then you'd look towards the hotel parking and the DLR parking garage and city...the Wonder tower(the tallest of the three) standard view would have a parking lot and city view. But you might also be able to see into DCA. It is the farthest walk from DTD and Monorail though. Hmm....remind me again...does the standard view include a pool view or is that a different category?

They do have new soaps. And I did see one room that had different wall paper. It was white with little red Mickey heads with a boarder that was a Mickey Mouse cartoon.

OoOOOoOOO, those are the cutest little soaps & shampoos I've ever seen! As far as the wallpaper I'd hope to get a room with the pretty blue Tinkerbell wallpaper border instead. It is just SO cute! The Mickey cartoon sounds cool though!

Thanks!

Hmm, I am really not sure what the Standard View includes. I remember when my Dad & I stayed there we were in same tower as the lobby & I liked that. It was nice to get in the elevator and be instantly in the lobby when I got out. I need to be close to the action. I vaguely remember our view, but it was nothing exciting. For some reason I thought we could see the BACK of DL park, maybe Splash Mountain a little. I could have sworn my Dad got excited 'cause he caught a fireworks glimpse. The view isn't so important for me, I appreciate convenience the most. If "Magic" is the tower with the check-in lobby I think I'd request that one... ya know in case I ever decide to go back in the future.

Just love those new toiletries! I also saw a room that had a Princess theme. The boarder had all the Princesses.
