Re: Grand Califonian Hotel

Welcome to MouseBuzz.

I haven't stayed there but a friend just got back from her first visit and she loved it. This is coming from a family that stays at GF every time they go to WDW. She didn't want to go but her family out voted her and she ended up loving their trip.

Re: Grand Califonian Hotel

The only construction going on is the addition for DVC which is outside the hotel.

The Hotel itself is a wonderful establishment. If you can get rooms, you will not regret the beauty and access to the parks.

Re: Grand Califonian Hotel

The Grand Californian is a great hotel. Unlike the other two Disney hotels at DLR, which weren't originally built by Disney, the GC was designed by the same guy who build the Wilderness Lodge at WDW, and is the only hotel at DLR that was designed and created by Disney.

When the DVC villas open there, I look to buy points there. I grew up in Orange County, CA and spent a lot of time going to Disneyland as a kid. I moved away before they did the expansion and added DCA and DTD.

Re: Grand Califonian Hotel

Its a pretty resort.. Especially nice if you are staying there as a couple but Id bring my kids there too. Its very convinent access to the parks (you can enter California Adventures from the hotel grounds and skip the lines). I think my only complaint is you have no choice in what room you get.. My DH and I went there on our honeymoon and they gave us a room with a double bed and twin bunkbeds..

We got to stay at the Grand Californian last June and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! It's so beautiful, pleaceful, unique, and just wildly impressive from start to finish. I can't even tell you how awesome it was to leave our room & enter the California Adventure park from our hotel. AWESOME!

Yea, you wont be dissapointed with the Grand Californian. Its an amazing hotel, has a private entrance into DCA. The only construction going on is a small bridge from DCA to the hotels snack shop which will be done soon and the new hotel/DVC wing...but it doesnt affect the experience/scenery of the hotel.
