Mailing Box

Has anyone mailed a box of stuff down to the resort they are staying at?

Re: Mailing Box

I've shipped boxes to WDW, but haven't been to DL. I would guess it's the same process. And very easy to do!

Re: Mailing Box

Something I've always wondered--What do you do with the box when you are ready to leave? Will Disney mail it home for you?

Yes, they can ship it back if you need it shipped back. It was too expensive for us to do it that way so we flattened the box and managed to get everything left into our luggage. We left unopened snacks for the CMs.

Re: Mailing Box

We've never done it, but my niece-in-law did and she said it turned out to be a good idea. They just broke the box up when they were finished with it.

Re: Mailing Box

I guess what I meant to say was what do you do with all the stuff (not the box) you mailed down? Do you pack it up and mail it home or stuff all the things in your luggage.

We tried to ship only what we'd use up so we wouldn't have to worry about excess stuff to take home again. We really messed up our first trip and had a ton of stuff left over. The last two trips we were able to pack the extras and take it home in luggage. Part of that is, we've learned to not pack as much in the luggage, either! That leaves room for the other stuff.

Re: Mailing Box

With fees for luggage I was hoping to mail a package down and back home, with like beach towels, little fans, snacks, toothpaste, shampoo that kind of stuff. I think it would be cheater. I think!

Re: Mailing Box

Do you just call the resort for their address and they hold it until you get there? I'd like to ship a Christmas Tree down for our next trip. Does anyone know how far in advance they can receive it (a day or two)? With slower Christmas mail, I'd hate for my tree to show up a day before we have to leave!!

All of the guide books have the addresses to the resorts. We never called the resort, we just sent the box addressed to us in care of the resort. If there are no perishables, they can receive it just about any time. Ship UPS or FedEx and you'll know when it should arrive.

Re: Mailing Box

Thanks! I think we may try it so we won't take up so much luggage room with Christmas decorations.

Re: Mailing Box

I think most people ship consumables, so there is nothing to bring back. For us it was baby diapers and such.

We always called the resort to see how they wanted the package addressed.
Then we would use a 3-day service so we would know it would arrive on time.

Re: Mailing Box

I mailed the boys down one year. But when I opened the box, they smelled funny.
