Disneyland Bonus!

I recently purchased an additional ownership interest at AKV, making my new points 200. But they messed things up and we weren't able to get the 08 points, which we needed for our grand villa next year. Long story, but they were super apologetic about the mix up.

So, then we were on a waitlist. Then we got the DVC email about the current AKV add-on incentive, which is add 100 points and get 100 developer points, 500 gift card, and $8 credit.

So we called today and cancelled the waitlist - we are getting the 100 points instead, starting in 09 - same use year month. Yay!

Now we are the proud owners of 260 points. Yes its alot for us as a couple, but our families love Disney and it was well worth it for us in the long run.

Anyways - the developer points can only be used at Saratoga, Interval, or Disneyland, and must be used within the year.

So we've discussed it and I think we are going to do Disneyland for our 2nd anniversary in May. Yay!

I am so excited! I wanted to go for our 1st anniversary, but we did DLRP instead. So it will make a great second anniversary!

For those who have been - Should we try for Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel?

I think we will go for 3 nights - do you guys think that's enough? Or should we do 4 nights?

Oooh I'm excited!

Nice deal, McFizzy.

Four nights at the Grand Californian. It's a no-brainer.

Seriously, the GC is a stunning place, just beautiful, and it's an anniverasry trip so you have a perfect excuse to go for that extra ambiance. And four nights is a very comfortable length of time to spend at DLR.

Thanks :-)
We were really thinking about doing BLT as well, but couldn't wait for it.

Hopefully it will happen soon! I know people are anxious :-)

Re: Disneyland Bonus!

If it were me I'd do 3 nights at the Grand Californian. We've done 4 nights and we've done 3 at both resorts. I LOVED being at the Grand because it's SO amazingly close to everything & it really is beatiful, the rooms are peaceful & relaxing, and what other Disney resort in the WORLD are you able to exit your hotel INTO a park?!?! I absolutely LOVED that. We'd go on Grizzly, get TOTALLY soaked, and run back into our room to change.

I've always thought 3 nights with a 4-day park hopper was a perfect amount of time. Believe it or not (and we go during busy summer time) by the end of day 3 we're usually really 'wrapped up' by then and trying to decide what to repeat again for the 4th day.

If you can get a flight that allows 4 full days (we arrived at 9am on Day 1, and left 8pm on Day 4) I think it's perfect. But if you get a better deal on 4-nights then go for it. Using points there is pretty 'expensive' so I always try to stick with the 3 nights.

Thanks Wishy. Mike agrees - thinks 3 nights is enough. I think that's what we will end up doing.

Grand Cali is defintiely our resort of choice after reviewing the 2 we were thinking about. I am going to call next week - fingers crossed we can get it!

One of these days, I will be able to afford to stay at the Grand California, which has the totally wicked benefit of being able to get on the Grizzly Rapids, get soaked, be in a hot shower in minutes, and dress up to eat at the Napa Rose all within a half hour..

Sweet..
