Yeah I have to agree. It might sounds like these places are close and easy to get to the park but I have been going to Disneyland since I was 4 and I hate staying at the good neighbor hotels. Some of them look great on the brochure and they are dumps when you get there. Also I was right across the street one year, Looking right at the monorail and I can’t believe how hard it was to get across that street. It was so bad that I was at the front gate and freezing and I would not even try and walk back to the room for my jacket. Now they way it is set up now with Down Town Disney leading right up the the Disneyland Hotel I find it so easy to walk to the room for stuff. It really makes the trip being able to access DTD and the parks without waiting for a shuttle or trying to cross that road. This is just my opinion and I know many love to save but for me it is worth trying to get a deal at one of the Disney hotels. Even if you buy an AAA membership for $45 and get their discount. I just booked the Disneyland Hotel for $230 a night after taxes.

Re: Staying off property just as good?

I agree with Tikiman - Lived in So. CA for 32 yrs. so I have seen big changes in Anaheim. We have done both DLH & CCI. Love them both, but being a pedestrian at the DLH is so much easier. In 1998, we stayed at the hotel across from the Hilton, can't remember the name now (good thing) and our car was stolen, overnight. A high rise Hotel is no longer an option for us if we have a car, which is never now that we live in NH and take the bus from LAX to Anaheim. With a car the CCI is perfect, you park your car right in front of your room and the motel itself is more enclosed from the street than most. YEAH! for the CCI.

On disney property! Better food, hours, people, rooms. Why stay in cheap rooms that have funny unidentifiable objects in the shower!
