It's about 90 miles or so.

If you drive, it's about an hour and a half to almost two hours.

If you fly, it's a half hour flight, but you add the wait time at the airport.

Another option, however, is that you take a cab to the Anaheim Station three blocks east of Disneyland, and you can take the train to San Diego..

It's much more relaxing..

I was thinking about flying into sd from philly but not anymore because of the hike. I just don't understand how everything at DL is so close. I'm scared that its like WDW and I should get a rental car.

Re: Calling all Disney Land fans!!!

Ok....I just called DVC to book my DL resort and now I'm not sure what to choose. I do not want to go to WDW in 2009 so I'm not worried about wasting pts. I have 250 that I'm willing to do whatever with so here is my other question.......should I stay at DL hotel in a dtd/pool view or should I stay at the grand with a standard and why???????......just a little on us...its only me and my 2 small kids who are not picky but do want to have a great time.......can we pool hop??? Anyone have pics of the inside of the grand hotel??? Thanks

Personally I think you and your kidlets would love the Disneyland Hotel, they'll love all the Disney touches & there is so much to enjoy right at the hotel. I loved having the pool view there & like I said before... it's the ORIGINAL Disney hotel!!

The Grand Californian is gorgeous and it's as close to the parks as you can get but from what I've read from you before it seems like you and your girls would really appreciate the DL Hotel.

You really don't have a reason to pool hop, especially if you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. It's a really awesome pool. The Grand Californian pool is nice, but kinda understated, it does have a view of Paradise Pier which is cool but I think whichever hotel you stay at you'll be fine with the pool there.

There are pictures of the inside of the Grand Californian here:

These are room photos from the Grand:

Re: Calling all Disney Land fans!!!

Also, something to consider, if you have enough points to cover a concierge level stay you may want to consider it. It would cut down a little bit on your food/snack budget; continental breakfast in the morning, drinks, etc. You said you aren't concerened about wasting points so if it were me & I had enough points to cover it I'd totally do it.

Noooo, no rental cars needed, it's NOTHING like the layout of WDW. Everything is connected & easy to access by walking.

Exactly! You'll be shocked at how compact everything is...you will waste your money by getting a car...unless you plan on traveling to other areas of course.

Re: Calling all Disney Land fans!!!

Make sure to try POTC and Space Mountain- I believe they are better at Disneyland than WDW. Don't you worry about travel through Disney property, everything is amazingly close together. I would recommend trying the SoCal pass-the San Diego zoo is beautiful. Plus as Wishy said you might almost get bored with DL and CA in seven days beacause they are a bit smaller than WDW. You will have a grand time no matter what though. Congrats and have fun.

Thanks so much. I figure Im leaving Philly on May 16th. That day would be set aside for travel... May 17-23rd will be full days to do DL and chill... May 24 pack up and come home. May 25th back to NJ. I think I want to just do DL. Im afraid about getting lost in Cali. I wanted to try the city pass but Im from NJ and cant read mapquest I figure we can do the parks. Do everything 2 times and there will be days to where the kids may just want to hang out at the pool. To be honest.. I know most of you may start to throw rotten produce at me but Im not one for letting the kids swin alot at WDW. Im sooo nuts sometimes because I feel that we only have 8-9-10 days whatever the case may be and Im afraid swimming takes away from other things.. I usually dont say lets just hang back and go swimming and I feel bad for that so for my Dec WDW trip we are taking our time and DL I want to relax and take it all in. The reason Im diong for a long time is also because I dont want to go back to wrok in the middle of a week and then off again for Memorial day so why not take a Sat and then all week to the next Sun Monday.. I do think Im sticking with DL hotel perhaps a standard room. I gave it much thought and I would still have 38 pts left for perhaps a weekend in WDW for MNSSHP in Oct. The rep said that RCI is adding all inclusive places so Im a little torn now but perhaps I will save that till 2010. My DH now wants to go to CO to the mts but I told him AFTER I take the kids to Disney Land..

Re: Calling all Disney Land fans!!!

I think you'll have a great time and plenty of time to do everything at Disneyland AND enjoy the pool! I'm so jealous..I'd love to go to DL one day and I am always surprised at how cheap everything is there.
