Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

We are planning a trip to California in the next couple of months. We will be staying in Newport Beach but I was thinking about adding on a couple of nights at Disneyland. How does the room size compare to the Disneyland Hotel? Does anyone know exactly how the park tickets work, being that you are already inside California adventure. I would guess it is similar to a length of stay pass at WDW resorts.

I hope that I can help!

OK, I have never stayed there, but I have driven by and seen it just before it opened. That is kind of like those Holiday Inn Express commercials, isn't it? I have attached the floorplans so you can compare. I believe the Grand Californian's rooms are slightly larger.

Grand Californian Hotel has its own private entrance into California Adventure, but beyone that, I don't believe there are any additional entry perks for staying there. I don't beleive they sell length of stay passes at DL, just hopper passes and individual daily park passes, and annual passes, of course. I may be mistaken there, but I don't believe so. The packages sold by Disney include hopper passes for a fixed number of days, rather than a lenght of stay pass.

Thanks!!

Thank you for the floor plans! I will let everyone know if we decide to stay at the Grand Californian or The Disneyland Hotel. We have not been to Disneyland for a few years, so I am excited to see all of the changes!!!!

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

The GCH (grand californian Hotel) is a very nice hotel and is spacious.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

I have not stayed at the GC, but I have toured inside a little bit, and it is BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely breathtaking, comparative to the Wilderness Lodge at WDW.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

We stayed at the GC on our honeymoon just last October and it was absolutely fantastic! We had a beautiful view of Paradise Pier in DCA. I dont know what the rooms at the Disneyland hotel are like, but the rooms at GC are very large.

Hi There, I have stayed at GC. The hotel is absolutely magnificent and I would highly recommend you stay there if at all possible. There is an entry into California Adventure and one directly from Downtown Disney so it is reasonably easy to get into Disneyland. All i can say is ... do it you wont regret it

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

So did you stay there?

(This thread just got bumped up, so I replied )

The Grand Californian is new , while the Disneyland Hotel isn't and is undergoing renovations floor by floor...if you do stay there, call and ask for a room on one of the renovated floors.

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

Yea, But all of The Disneyland Hotel's renovations are complete or so I heard. It looks awsome. Now I heard they are going to re-paint the outside to have a more "fun" look. :-) :-) :-)

Re: Has anyone stayed at the Grand Californian?

The common areas are done, but the rooms are about 3/4 done according to my dh. They'll be all done by May. He's in the know in that area

I can't wait! My husband and I will be there on Monday! Thank you for all of your information and floor plans! All I can do at work is think of Disneyland, GCH and the Blue Bayou! I'm even wearing my Disneyland embossed name badge instead of my company issued badge! I'm so ready for this trip! Yea!!!
