The Vineyard at DCA
Hi!
I am planning my very first visit ever to Disneyland and DCA and we are trying to plan our meals. My mom is really interested in the Vineyard restaurant at DCA...Has anyone here ever eaten there? What did you think? Thanks!

Re: The Vineyard at DCA
Awesome! Incredible!! Fantastic!!!
I ate there about 2 years ago and it was absolutely wonderful! It is one of the more expensive meals I've ever had on Disney property (second probably only to Victoria and Albert's in WDW), but was well worth it to me. If you love great food and excellent wine, particularly if expertly paired together, then this is your idea of heaven! It's also a nice place to slow down at the end of a long Disney day - and we happened to be there when the Mainstreet Electrical Parade went by (they held the next course so it wouldn't get cold while we watched). Having just gotten back from DLR without eating there this trip is disappointing, but it wasn't a place my group this time would've enjoyed. That said, The Vineyard Room may not be the best dining experience for you if some of the following apply to members of your group: - people on a tight budget (as I mentioned before, it's not cheap. Dinner is/was 3 or 4 courses, with wine was more $) - people with little children (no flaming please - I'm sure it's been done, but most kids likely won't appreciate the food choices or the atmosphere and guests at neighboring tables may not appreciate it if the kids act up. There are exceptions - I know kids who love gormet food and have better table manners than many adults. It just depends on the kids - and adults with them, I guess!) - people trying to maximize their Disney time with attractions and shows (sitting down for a leisurely dinner may not be some Disney-fans' idea of a good use of time while in a Disney park) - people on a diet (I don't remember 'low carb' options!) Although some people get intimidated by wine stewards, I try to think of it as a learning experience. We had a great guy - he explained everything in great detail (very colorfully at times!) and gave us excellent suggestions on what to try based on what we liked. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Re: The Vineyard at DCA
Thanks Minnie and princess. I am looking forward to trying this place for sure. My mom is a big time wine lover so she is most excited about that part of it - I am most excited about the food! I had no idea the Electrical Parade even went by there, I will have to look into getting a PS for when the parade comes through. Thanks for the tip!!

Re: The Vineyard at DCA
KarenWdwcp,
If your mom likes wine, she needs to also go to the lounge in Napa Rose or have dinner, I think it is better than the Vineyard Room, except you can't see the ELP. Also Hook's wine cellar. The Golden Vine also has daily wine tastings very inexpensive. As an AP I frequent these places. Any q's, just ask. |

Re: The Vineyard at DCA
Yes! We ate there a few weeks ago and the food was really good, the atmosphere is unbeatable, and surprisingly, wasn't as expensive as we expected it to be. It's not cheap, however, but a fair price for a nice sit-down meal. It is one of your few (only?) Italian choices at the resort.

Re: The Vineyard at DCA
Thanks for the input, Disneywife. Unfortunately we did not get to try the Vineyard Room during our Disneyland trip because when we called for the Priority Seating they told us it was only open on the weekends and we were there during the week. We made Priority Seating for Napa Rose instead but missed out on that too! It was SO HOT during our trip 2 weeks ago that by around 3:30- 4 pm, we were pretty much worn out for the day, and had to leave the parks and go back to the hotel. No one really had the energy or desire to go out for a fancy dinner after our battle with the heat and sun all day!
But we still had a good time.Karen

I'm sorry you had such a hot vacation. Napa Rose shouldn't be missed. Next time, just go to the lounge or Hook's cellar to relax in the air conditioned coolness, have a glass of wine & a casual meal. You needn't change & it will cool you off & help you unwind . |
