And dabomb...yes, it is essentially the Chef Mickey's of Disneyland. Very similar.

good to hear....I'm a big Chef Mickeys fan so I'll be sure to hit up Goofys one morning for CB :)

Re: Off site Disneyland restaurants.......

I am an Orange County native, even though I now live in Bloomington, MN. If you want good off site places to eat away from DLR, I have a few suggestions.

1) Todai Japanese Seafood Buffet - Orange Mall

If pigging out is your thing and you have an adventerous palate, try this "Gunkan" (Japanese for "battleship') feast on for size. Prices tend to be in the moderate range but given the variety of foods with freshly prepared sushi, salads, an Asian hot entree station and a cavalcade of desserts to die for, you get great value for your money.

2) Mario's International Restaurant - Stanton (on Beach Blvd.)

While the neighborhood may look a little leery, Mario's cuisine is not. My family have been regular customers of Mario's since 1980 and while he may run a one man operation, the prices are still cheap and the portions are huge. I guarantee you won't go away on an empty stomach. Call ahead to see if he has the prime rib because you get a huge cut for only $12.95. And if Mario is in a good mood, he may throw a comp appetizer your way. Mexican, Italian, and American dishes available here.

3) The Mad Greek - Garden Grove (22 Fwy and Beach Blvd.)

This longtime Beach Blvd establishment has some of the best Greek food in the OC area. Service, although counter service, is quick and the food is good and plentiful. This is the home of the original fried zucchini sticks. Don't leave this place without ordering this classic. Others may duplicate the sticks, but the Mad Greek does them right!

4) In 'N Out Burger - various locations

A So Cal institution. Best fries and shakes in the OC area. Get a Double Double with fires and a shake. Another good place is Tommy's Burgers. You can't go wrong at either place.

5) Thai Nakron - Buena Park

Simply THE BEST Thai food in the OC area. If you are craving Thai, then head towards Buena Park and stop on in. They do the popular Thai dishes like Pad Thai well, but it is the "Gai Yang" (Thai BBQ Chicken) with sticky rice that brings down the house.

6) Mimi's Cafe - Various locations

If you are looking for good old comfort food, don't stop at Denny's. Stop here. The food is wonderful and is very filling.

Re: Off site Disneyland restaurants.......

If you have a closet pastrami lover in your group, The Hat is located on Imperial Highway accross the street from the Brea Mall. Take the 57 north a few miles to Imperial Highway and head west. Can't miss it. My arteries are hardening just thinking about it, but it is very good food that is bad for you.

To chime in on Chef Mickey's vs Goofy's Kitchen, we've been to both many times. The food is pretty comparable, the atmosphere at Mickey's is better (especially if you get a table by the window with a view of the lagoon) but the number and variety of characters at Goofy's is better (we saw 9 different characters one night in a rainy weeknight in November).

Try Mimi's Restaurant. It is close to the park and we really enjoyed it.

Re: Off site Disneyland restaurants.......

Buca de Beppo is right down the street from Disneyland on Harbour. I really think it is a fun place to eat. I haven't been to the Anaheim one, but I enjoyed the one in Universal City and in Seattle. Our hotel was right next door a few years ago, although I can't remember which hotel we were in on that trip! In any case, we walked from the hotel to DL a few times and it wasn't that bad of a walk!

They serve big family sized portions, so its fun to get two or three (or more depending on the group size) entrees and then share!
