I called to make reservations today (60 days in advance), and they said:

1) It's changing to The Princesses' and Ariel's Restaurant
2) You can only make reservations 30 days in advance, not 60 days
3) Still just serving lunch and dinner

Anyone else who knows about this...does this mean there will JUST be princess characters there? Not really a problem for us, but I don't want to tell my 3-year old that Captain Mickey is cooking her lunch if he's not even going to be there!

I thought ariel's grotto was just a meet and greet attraction area? Am I missing something? My DD loves ariel...did I need reservations for something? Oh no, I'm only 30 days away!!

It's the restaurant right on the water in California Adventure park. Not the area in Disneyland.

Hmmm...that's interesting...I wonder why they're changing it so much? It was something else when DCA originally opened; before it was even Ariel's Grotto. Wasn't it like Neptune's Cove or something like that?!? I'm probably way off.

Anyway, I wonder if it's not attracting enough people, or what? DH and I ate their on our honeymoon and loved it! It's so romantic to sit right out there on the water with Paradise Pier sparkling in the dark. The characters were so cute in their little sailor outfits, too! I'm not sure if I'm thrilled at the whole princess idea. I like the princesses, but it seems like having all these pretty girls wandering around would steal from the romance of the patio area. LOL. Maybe it's just me, but...

I was wondering when this would happen.

When I called to make character meal AR's for our trip we just took, I caught a CM that was just out of a meeting about the changes (this was a couple months ago, in June I think). He was reading me the changes, and the CM next to him highlighted where the memo said not to tell the guests, lol. He calmmed up and told me to call next week as they JUST got out of the meeting and no one knew anything yet (this was a Friday, at nearly 5pm).

I called the next week, and couldn't make them then either, as it was up in the air still and the system was not allowing new AR's (this was ONLY for the two in-park character meals--Capt'n Mickey at AG and the Princess B'fast at the Plaza--the resort meals were okay to book. This was fo the first week of August).

On my 3rd inquiry, a very nice CM took my phone # to call me when my dates were released into the system for the two in-park meals. A week or so later, she called me about the Princess breaky in the Plaza as the dates had been released, but the ressies for Ariel's Grotto hadn't been released. I made the Plaza AR, and she offered to call me back when AG opened in the system. I told her I was going to pass on that one, but thanked her for being so kind and remembering to call me.

Then my bubble burst. My friend that had just been in June told me that the princess breakfast wasn't all that great. That they (princesses) did not make rounds in the dining room, but were sort of corralled up outside in a roped off area to meet the kids that had a hand stamp from the meal. I decided that wasn't the experience I wanted, so after all that calling back and forth, I cancelled my AR there

Glad to hear the Princesses will be back at AG. The very first CM I spoke with joked about Mickey not having his own meal at DL, and how silly he thought it was that the Princesses got displaced so he could take over their place. And how none of it really made any sense.

I think it was a Wolfgang Puck's, but for only a very brief time. I don't think it did well because people don't want to go to a restaurant that they can go to anywhere else. There are several Wolfgang Puck's in Orange County.

I too am disappointed it's becoming a princess restaurant. As much as we like the princesses, it's just so not a princess environment, but something else unique altogether. I mean - the chandeliers are glass jellyfish...where else are you gonna get that?? The princesses fit better at the Plaza Inn.
